Inspired by a true story, Safe Haven is a short film about a high school senior, Amélia Pallomino, struggling with depression who fights to attend college in order to break out of her family’s cycle of immobility, but risks defying her mother in the process.

Amri Rigby (Writer/Director) was selected as 1 of 15 emerging filmmakers out of 800+ applicants from 60+ countries to win the Sundance Ignite Fellowship. The Sundance Ignite Fellowship identifies and supports new voices and talent from the next generation of filmmakers and fosters fresh audiences for independent storytelling.

Omg... this is exactly how my mother treats and speaks to me. And yes, there were days when I couldn't get out of bed because I was drowning in depression. I'm better now but when she speaks to me the way she does, it brings me down.
