Former President Donald #Trump shifted from a mostly defensive stance of his protectionist trade policies to more of an offensive posture by going after those he considers to be “anti-tariff.”

That was among several observations made during Trump’s hour-long interview Tuesday with #Bloomberg News Editor-in-Chief John Micklethwait at the #Economic Club of #Chicago

The #Republican nominee in the Nov. 5 #election pushed back against the idea that trade policies — like a broad expansion of #US tariffs that he’s espousing — will be inflationary and bad for #economic growth. On the contrary, he said.

Donald Trump's trade wars with China resulted in a U.S. trade deficit of $679 billion. In a Republican mind, increasing the cost of imported goods while decreasing exports due to trade retaliation will lead America to economic success. The U.S. economy contracted at the fastest rate since 1946 and the unemployment rate reached 14.7%, the highest since the Great Depression.

He's president now you might aswell hope & pray his plane works as quickly as he believes it will. People are only looking short term & not long term how beneficial this theory is. Factories in the USA for consumers good will lead to reduced prices. It will get ugly before it gets beautiful.
