I started watching this series not long after doing a new build. I've watched almost every episode now lol, and feel so much more comfortable troubleshooting! I've even helped some friends recently with their problem PC's :) Thanks Greg!

For those interested: that power supply is an OEM unit from SOLYTECH. From what I could find out, they build some Xilence and Apexgaming units. I have seen videos where some of these prebuilt PCs come with HighPower or Channel Well Technology (CWT) built units. CWT is actually the OEM of a lot of brand-name PSUs and makes decent stuff. Don't let the boring exterior fool you ;)

Aw man get these second hand butterflies knowing theres someone out there who just gets something as great as their computer recovered. Especially seeing the adorable home screen i hope whoever uses that computer next is elated. Good work, Greg!

Just to clarify the CSM stuff: CSM enabled lets you boot in legacy/MBR mode unless specified otherwise in the boot options (usually there are some options to select what driver is loaded for each bootable option). When CSM is disabled it will boot into EFI/GPT mode. If you install Windows under EFI and try to boot it via CSM while not selecting the EFI driver first, it won't boot and viceversa

Your videos saved a lot of people some money. It taught us basic and advanced PC troubleshooting which is somewhat expensive if you take the pc to a computer shop for repair. Keep it UP!

Love this series. It's been playing in the background all day while I was working. Was extremely happy to see there was a new episode live when I clocked out.

Is greg the only genuine large techtuber left?
I always respect the way you approach "current issues" and the way you never pretend to know something you dont. Always love the fix or flop series!

Easy fixes are always great to come across, and I think the viewer's sister will be thrilled to get a working PC. Maybe she'll be a future content creator?

As to CSM, you already know that CSM stands for Compatibility Support Module, but what it actually does is pretty straightforward. It lets you boot the system as if you were running a Legacy BIOS system. This means that drives formatted with CSM on will use MBR, drives with CSM off will use GPT. So, if a drive was formatted and installed with CSM on, it will have to be kept on, or the drive converted to GPT to be usable with CSM off. Same goes in the opposite direction. If you format a drive with CSM off and then turn it on, the PC won't see it, since it can no longer recognize GPT partitioned drives.

If you want to install an older OS on a UEFI system, use CSM, otherwise, leave it off. That's my rule of thumb.

Hey Greg, i hope you're having a great day/night. I recently had my friend have some issues with his PC and he brought it to me, because I for some reason ended up being the PC guy in my friend group, and remembered all of your FoF playlist videos, and did a diagnosis based on similarities with some of the troubles you've been having with these pcs, on this series. And it helped a lot, and i learned a lot with your videos. And as you always say at the end of your videos, thanks for letting me learn with you!

Well done resisting the urge to put another RAM stick in. I can't help myself, it's a compulsion - if I'm doing a pro-bono fix for someone it drives me mad when there's just 1 DIMM to the point I have to upgrade it to 2 lol.

No matter how complex or simple the fix is, I always enjoy watching these! Never know when a similar issue will pop up.

This was a nice easy and quick fix! That new power supply is so good, they can actualy upgrade the build easily from here now as they have a solid base to work it. And to be fair the case looks pretty nice also.

I bought a cheap prebuilt years ago. And I can say that a cheapo PSU can cause all manner of problems. From the reviews I knew going into it that the PSU was going to be a problem, so when I purchased the computer I also purchased a new more reliable PSU to replace the one that came in the prebuilt. The PC arrived about a week before the replacement PSU and I got a little antsy and wanted to run it for a bit before the PSU arrived. That was my mistake, the computer worked for about 5 hours, then started having issues. At best I would see glitches across the screen, at worst it would blue screen. I contacted the company that prebuilt the system, and after a little back and forth(you know, did you turn it off and back on again) I got a full RMA and sent the PC back to them to be repaired. While it was out the replacement PSU arrived. When the PC came back to me it included a sheet that said what it was they had to fix. Turns out the cheapo PSU damaged the RAM cards. Both of them. So those were replaced. Immediately once I got the PC out of the box I ripped out the cheapo PSU(well, not "ripped") and replaced it with the new one. That computer served me well after that for four years. Upgraded the GPU from a GTX 720 to a GTX 960 after a while. Later upgraded to a newer better computer and the old one continued to serve me well for another four years as a streaming computer using a capture device so that I didn't have to run the streaming software on my gaming PC. It is still sitting here near my desk as I've since upgraded computers again and am using the previous PC as the streaming computer now. And as far as I know the older one still works. Won't be doing any gaming on it any time soon, but it still turns on and runs.

Note: The RAM cards getting damaged was NOT one of the things listed in any of the reviews as something that would go wrong with the PSU. All of the reviews that mentioned the PSU just had the PSU either overheating, or simply failing and no longer providing power. Or, both. But me being the super lucky one, my version of the PSU decided to take other components with it.

3:04 That noise blip... I know what that sound is. The capacitors inside the PSU. Or it could be the capacitors on the motherboard.
