Schedule On-Demand Azure File Share Snapshots with an Azure Function

Azure Recovery Vault policies can only schedule one back a day. This may not be frequently enough for some organizations. On-demand backups can be initiated with PowerShell. In this video, we use an Azure Function to schedule on-demand backup recovery points throughout the day.

I was recommended to check out your channel by Azure Administrator course guide - it was a decent recommendation. Thank you for spreading the knowledge!

But in my portal we are able to take manual snapshot but retention is not working as expected. means its not deleting old snaphot.

Hello Travis, this is important. Please respond. "Azure backup center" backup and restore for azure file shares does NOT seem to support cross region restore..Any solutions you can propose for azure file share cross region restore?

another awesome video! i actually just had a call with our MS team yesterday to go over Azure environment so they could maybe make some recommendations. I asked the question of having multiple backups per day (and currently being limited with the native) and what we could do about it. Since we do the whole shadow copy thing, it'd be nice to still have similar functionality. I looked through your collection first thing this morning (not even for this) and boom!

I went through this process, but it seemed to be a timeout issue with loading modules maybe. I just went through the script to see what modules I needed and made this adjustment to the requirements.psd1:

'Az.RecoveryServices' = '4.*'
'Az.Accounts' = '2.*'

This worked for me, so I thought I'd share. I know that means I'll have to babysit versions and whatnot, but wanted to get your thoughts.
