We should give Gary another chance because he was a big part of why we still have a club. Don’t forget those dark days with John Gurney. Yes we need that new stadium and we can’t stop now because have come so far. I believe that Gary’s ideas with the stadium is good for generating revenue for us to buy good players to take us back to the premier league.

Well done for raising this, Lewis. The short answer is yes, definitely. The club has developed beyond Sweet’s capabilities, certainly on the football side. I sense Sweet is a control freak though and doesn’t like to be challenged which we’ve seen this season. So, we need a strong, experienced Director of Football who is allowed to run things on that side. Although we can now afford a good person, past experience suggests we’ll hire someone on the cheap and of course that person will report into Sweet. So, it’s not straightforward.

Definitely do not agree with people saying that he should leave his position. People need to remember who got us out of non league and into the premier league.

I think Sweet is a good man but was out of his depth swimming with the sharks last year and we have paid the price since. The club has always been good at adapting and providing they learn the lessons and fix them going forward, then there is no point in changing much. It’s fair to say too that Mick has not excelled this year, but then again we don’t know what restraints were put on him. I think a football director is probably a good call if we stay in this league but will be superfluous if we drop to L2 in which case we will be reducing staff numbers.

I think your spot on in what your saying, Gary, along with the board have misjudged a few things pitch wise in recent times, but tbf they do have credit in the bank!

My mate and I sensed something wasn’t right during pre season when we didn’t win any games, we couldn’t remember the last time that happened

Your pretty much spot on with the transfer windows. We've always been a club that has done business early and got the players together at the start of preseason and early in the January transfer window. That never happened. As a new club in the Premier League, agents would always have tried their luck, and we needed to be better than that. Bringing players in like Baptiste, who was and still injury prone, was a mistake. Clubs don't let decent players go for nothing. Keeping players like Burke was a mistake. He's a decent defender but plays half a season at best. Gary needs to run the stadium side of the business and bring in a director of football who is the face of our club behind the manager. David Pleat would have been perfect, but he is 80 now, so too old for the job, but someone like him who has a brilliant knowledge of the game.
Don't get me wrong. Gary Sweet has been brilliant when we could easily compete with the transfer windows of the lower tiers but now we are competing in the Championship and higher he doesn't have the footballing knowledge to understand it. Don't forget, the squad that got us in the Premier League were Nathan Jones players with a couple of additions. Something has gone awry with the type if players we have brought in since going up. Mick and the recruitment team have not got it right and some of those mistakes must be put on Edwards too. This transfer window was decent. I still believe we have the players to keep us up. Before the window a lot of rhe blame must be put on these players. They have got us into this position and with the new additions i believe we can get out of it. We will see.
After the stadium is built Gary can go back to running the business side of the club.

I would like to know where all the money has gone considering the finances must have already been in place before we even got promoted to the prem and they have not spent it on players. A full financial breakdown is needed

Gary Sweet has been allowed to become far too powerful at the Club. He's basked in the glory of promotion yet remains silent on the shocking mismanagement of the team. Our approach to selection has been poor & we've recruited mediocrity. Bring in a footballing man & empower him to get us promoted from L1.

I think recruitment has been poor this season. Some of the players we’ve signed aren’t up to it. I think we’ve also rushed into the new ground, it’s needed like you say but I don’t think we had to jump into it straight away. I would have invested back into the squad and tried to go up again then maybe look at sorting the stadium. Hope it doesn’t end up looking half empty as well that will be awful

There is no doubt that Gary Sweet is a Bob the Builder but he has shown that he is not a good CEO from the Football Technically side of things. As the CEO, the buck stops with him. We took too long to get rid of RE. I disagree with you and its obvious that Gary is on an Ego Trip, I and anyone else would be with all that media interest internationally. A CEO has to make hard decisions and Gary does not want to make those decisions as he wants to maintain the "family environment" of Luton Town. Which sometimes is in conflict with running a business. If we go down then a lot of people will lose their jobs and the family will need to be broken up, as we can't maintain a Premier League Side family in League one. Another question is do we need a Football Manager or Football Coach? I don't think that MB is Lutons Manager but is rather Lutons Coach with GS doing the managerial aspect of things. NJ was really Lutons Coach not Manager he had Paul Hart and Big Mick to advise him and would not have looked so good without them. GS has many faults as we all do cos no one is perfect, I was a CEO of a couple of companies for over 20 years but I stepped down when I knew I was getting stale. As a CEO you just run out of ideas and enthusiasm. My concern with GS is that he as not transparent as he should be as information is power and he wants to hang on to that power. Why oh why do we still have a football program? In 2018 the EFL decided that it was not mandatory to have a football program and environmentally its not a good thing to have such an expensive item on sale each home game. Just use the LTFC website. 21% of Championship clubs no longer produce printed matchday programmes, 12.5% of 104 clubs across the Premier League, EFL and Women’s Super League no longer sell printed copies, Only 10%-20% of attendees on matchday purchase a programme. Lets reduce the environmental impact of LTFC and raise our Social Media profile. Lets have a CEO weekly "column" on the website (during the season) that keeps the fans informed all the time. We desparately need a Director of Football - A David Pleat type figure - the sooner we get that person in post the better we will be.

They should of signed him after Middlesbrough once they left it that late we needed to get champ experience considering

Sweet and the rest of the board totally responsible for this club still being in existence. None of them are what I would call professional club managers. They got us to the PL did not have the skills to see what was needed to keep us there. I hope they can admit to that and as you suggest bring in a director of football. To best of my knowledge every professional sports team here in the US has that position. No shame in admitting your limitations and bringing in someone to bring more success

Tbh it was obvious after the pre season that Edwards needed to go. The pre season was dismal.

I think what's happened over the last 2 seasons recruitment wise has been poor and it's why we are in the current situation. It's happened at a point in our history as a football club that we finally have a modern stadium to look forward to that will certainly outlive most of us commentating on here now.
The flipside will be did we do enough to secure our status as a PL team at a recruitment level and how well did we manage the prospect of getting relegated. We all love the thought of having a brand new 25, 000 Stadia, I do for sure but hold on.... Originally it was going to be built up capacity wise in stages and a decision was signed off to go full in to capacity in one go. None of this really gets my beef but when you shop in the League 1 aisles as we have done, then you get what you paid for.

I disagree about him leaving. You forget when we got promoted we never got rid of players going into the prem only a few using the premise they got us here so if we get relegated from the prem we have a strong side.
Now this season during pre season every punter was saying trust in Rob. Rob during pre season said we have an excellent side to get lots of goals. Now we started badly with injuries. Mental capacity has effected the team more so than expected as key players left or not available. No experienced defenders. All these little things on top of us not turn ing up for games has given us this downfall. Gary sweet should of recruited more in the summer but he was hoodwinked by Rob
