Don't worry, real money doesn't worth anything either.

Agree to meet at the designated places in the police parking lots in the daytime. Many will not agree to this if using fake cash.

not surprised, we only changed to polymer bills after they were counterfeited in the UK

Common sense says to MEET AT BANK (mention you'll verify the bills) or POLICE STATION (if it's a high-ticketed item). If the person doesn't show up, you know why.

Would be funny if the phone didn't work.

"There are crooks trying to steal your stuff" ... yes they are known as REVENUE CANADA or any other tax agency.

How about talking about the central banking scammers inflating(counterfeiting) money into worthlessness?

Pretty sure I won't take such large amount of cash from a stranger without taking extra security measurement

Wouldn't police be able to track this guy down by the email and/or phone number the seller used to contact him?

Had a guy do it last night, they looked VERY real just missing a couple of security items. Guy was smart, he mixed in real bills and put them on top. The tip off was when I said "Nah" and his interac transfer "magically" wouldn't go through. He played the waiting game and said "Well do you want to take the money"...using the old carrot in front of the face method.

I would have spent the money, and let someone else deal with it.

Now stores will say "No longer accepting $20 or $5 bills"

Money doesn’t really have any value itself, the bank just prints more money when they need it lol

They are releasing newly redesigned bills in Australia. That just makes it easier for scammers to ply their trade.

Lesson: if prospective buyer isn't willing to pay by e-transfer or certified cheque, especially for a large amount, move on.

Can't he go after the guy who bought the phone? He should have his contact details
