Yeeeep, this here is a primitive variation of your standard vibro-blade, standard equipment for all Republic Commando units, the vibro-blade is mounted in the top section of a Commando's gauntlet.

The blade operates on a basic extend/retract mechanism which allows for a quick, effective and lethal application of force to the vital areas of an enemies armor components.

The blade is particularly effective against organic hostiles, due to the nature of the blades operation that allows it to sever crucial body systems in a very short amount of time, allowing commandos in the field to neutralize targets in mere seconds, and due to the penetration of the blade it makes it effective vs armored hostiles and the synthetic composition of droid chassis'. 

As you can see here, the blade in the video demonstrates how effective a vibro-blade can be in disarming enemies comprised of baked dough.
