How to solve the problem of the black screen in kali linux

2)Xorg - configure
4)service lightdm start

I fixed this problem by:
In virtual box go to setting (yellow cog) for your kali install, go to “system” and make sure base memory is high (but still in green). Then go to display and move the video memory bar all the way to the max it can go. Save these settings and try again.

it worked for me, one more thing no matter what it says on the screen just keep on putting in the code. because mine was saying some other random stuff and I got confused. But I keep on going and it worked.
