A video now showing you the old Birmingham City Transport Hockley Bus Garage at Hockley Circus. Now known as the New Bingley Hall it is used for a variety of uses including the CAMRA Winter Ales Festival which i was working at this year. A new hall was constructed inside the fabric of the old garage although a section at the side is still very visable as a bus garage as we se in this vid. If you liked the video please subscribe to my channel, there are lots more transport & quirky vids to upload!

You can imagine all the old buses lined up close to each other and the smell of oil and diesel! My dad worked as a bus driver here for 35 years, he used to take me to the canteen on the first floor which also had two snooker tables. The drivers would chill out here and also sit around playing cards before or after their shifts. Its a shame it had to close, yet another bit of Birmingham history that has disappeared.

That looks ideal for a bus depot site ;).

Back in the 60's my brother & I used to try and visit (uninvited) both Hockley and Roseberry St garages this was always the harder one to sneak round and yes it was usually filthy although that might have been something to do with the steam from the loco's running out of Snow Hill and the goods yard on top of Icknield St bridge/Hockley Station

It was known as the dirtiest garage on the conurbation but with a brilliant friendly workforce inside 👍
