From a portrait artist's perspective, this is accurate. Treating your face as a canvas, the darker shade would add dimension to an other wise flat color.

Also, Elf used to have this dual blush palette a few years ago. I fell in love with it. Unfortunately, the brand wasn't a hit in my hometown so it just disappeared from the counters 😔
