This isn't about how lucrative panhandling can be this is about all those fantastic people who did not judge and were generous.

I am a single mom, and have only $5 to my name.I'm thinking about doing it now, because my job just doesn't pay enough.

His admission is why I don't give people money. Lack of money is almost always a symptom of other issues. Giving them money doesn't fix any of their underlying problems and often makes them worse.

I'm an amputee wheelchair bound who was a panhandler. I probably make 25 to 35 in four hours. I've had holiday or big event times where I made a hundred or two, but that's once every other month and is super rare. These guys saying people were giving twenty's is bs. I get a 20 once in a great while, very rare. There lucky if they make anything. If a no drug or drinking, legless, wheelchair bound guy makes 30 in four or five hours, then there's no way these guys make hundreds a day. I think they just don't want to admit they sit out there for hours and make 5 or 10 most the time.

I tried pan handling one time, asking for money to get Propane gas with no-one wanting to help and I live off social security and what tiny amount of food stamps the government wants to give me, have also had to go to food banks and beg for help, no one seems to care about the actually truly poor people anymore cause these scammers driving away in good vehicles or maybe own fancy homes. I got myself and two dogs to feed, yet no-one acts like they care about the poor cause of these scammers. We poor people get treated like criminals cause of the actual criminals out there doing these schemes, it's not right or fair to the actually truly poor people. I have been out of Propane like five years now, been cooking on hotplates, bought a water kettle and microwave, just to cook with or heat water, I have no inside water, so I have to go collect water from a spout or wash dishes outside and no money to get new pipes put in the house. Social security doesn't give me enough money to fix the house or move away. Electric so old that it has a asphalt or vinyl coated fabric jacket and no money to replace it. I also checked in on seeing about getting natural gas and was told it would cost $1500, that is two social security checks plus part of a third one. I love propane, I love it because I am paying one price unlike natural gas where you have to pay every month and propane you don't have to pay monthly, cause I am on social security, you never know if you have money to pay your monthly bills especially when they are extremely high, I used two electric heaters for winter last year cause after that incident of overloading the power and almost causing a fire in other than the outlet, could of burned the house down cause of having to use electric heaters, I can't have more than two electric heaters and two will not heat the home and it cost almost $200 on my electric bill and with price increases everywhere, I will have to pay alot more this year, maybe $300 or more. Poor people like myself can't make it and it's like the system is rigged against poor people especially when you got scammers and schemers making it hard on poor people. There is too much paperwork for the truly poor to get food stamps and for what, just $20, pathetic, people have messed things up for the truly poor person. SAD, VERY VERY SAD! JUST TERRIBLE HOW THINGS GOT FOR THE TRULY POOR WHO ARE NOT SCAMMERS!

Pan handling you stand with a sign get tax free money, I know some who've made over a hundred a day panhandling. Doing food delivery by bicycle, Ubereats, Doordash, you traveling miles to get food to customer, you have to buy a new chain, tires, and spend on bike upkeep every few months which is about 200 out of what you make, also you pay taxes, by end of day, panhandler is usually the winner. 😢

Panhandler leaves for a taxable job, gets a notice of intent to seize levy property for forgetting to pay taxes, cause mindset still with old job, worker goes back to panhandling. Even the irs love panhandlers! 😂ROFL.

I work for food delivery services, still can't make a liveable salary, so forget to keep money aside for taxes, and it hurts. Panhandlers don't have any worries.

Pan handlers don't really make much. I've spoken to a few. They can make a hundred dollars a day during the summer when there is a lot of traffic and people are out moving about. But during the winter probably don't make much. Its really seasonal as with some professions.

I do it if I have to, You can easily make enough money to get a cheap car and get yourself out of your situation .. Last time I was stuck in NOLA .. I stayed at the NOLA RESCUE MISSION FOR 4 days and made enough money to get a 1990’s CAMRY AND get out of NOLA

Best way to help the poor or homeless: Give time and/or money to legitimate organizations whose focus is helping the poor or homeless.

One time, I said “no” to a panhandler and he pounded on the hood of my car and cussed me out.

I never judge panhandlers some of them are truly in hard straights and have no other way some of them have tried and tried and tried to get a job going to be turned down at every turn so I don't judge panhandlers I don't know which ones are legit and which ones are not but I won't judge him

I definitely try not to judge, I don’t think they get rich off this but I just don’t personally believe in handing out money like that.
If there’s a street performer I’ll give him a few bucks, he drums & does something for it.

Other than that, personally I’ll keep walking or drive past.

One weird thing about Panhandling for me being a white man black people would give me money at a higher percentage than white people. You would think it be the other way around. It was weird to me.

Getting money for doing nothing is damaging to character building, it leads people to a path of perpetual dependence on others, it weakens the mind and the spirit. Humans are endowed to become more, to accomplish, to achieve, to perform, it is the very nature of our spirits. Look how much has been accomplished by the human mind and work. We created things, machines, computers, cars, airplanes, we built bridges, buildings, we came to this life to become something and accomplish something. The idea of staying in a street and asking for money for doing nothing is damning to the soul. Anyone doing that or suggesting that should wake up to the danger of doing that, it will only delay your own development and progress in this life.
