As Autumn says, they were the ONLY exotics insurance in the US. I'd still recommend getting it, however. Protip as Autumn says, get the insurance ASAP vs. waiting for a few vet visits for pre-existing condition to show up. I've made that mistake previously with my pigs and one cannot be insured due to the ovarian cysts found during her spay. Thanks for bringing attention to this, Autumn!

My friends guinea pig Scruffy had that exact eye issue last year, they surgically removed it and sent it out to test for cancer, came back cancer free and a year later now he's doing fantastic.
I hope Rocket's eye heals on it's own without needing the surgery.

Oh, bless you, Autumn. What an expensive month for you. Looks like what they call cherry Eye, exactly what yoyr vet has said he has, swallon glands on their eye lids, dogs, cats, and rabbits can get it too I hope all of your pets get better soon, ❤❤❤❤

Insurance is so worth it! I take it out as soon as I get the animal to avoid pre existing issues where possible. Only one insurer here I think insures exotics for life time cover so not much choice here either however rabbit insurance is pretty common.

My guinea pig had that on his eye a week ago and it went away a day later when I plucked hay out of the corner of his eye

I had nationwide pet insurance for my dog, they did not cover a whole lot with the emergency bill. I also had to pause the insurance as well because they were increasing the age of my dog month by month. Hopefully nationwide helps with your bunnies!

Poor Rocket, it definitely looks better. I hope Koda is able to keep his teeth as long as possible. On a funny note, one of my piggies ways more than Koda lol

Autumn, I hope you see this! My name is Autumn, and Im pretty young and trying to convince my mom to get me Guinea pigs. You are helping me do my research on Guinea pigs! I found 2 2 1/2 old male Guinea pigs for sale at a local pet store and I don’t know (if I can get Guinea pigs) that I should buy them, considering they are in a pet store. I have done a lot of research on hamsters and I know that buying them from pet stores is a bad idea, I dont know if it’s the same for Guinea pigs. If I can get Guinea pigs, should I buy the Guinea pigs from the pet store? If I can get Guinea pigs I think I will ask the employees if they are fixed and if they are from a good breeder, do you think I should do that? I would love your opinion, sorry if this is too much to read! I hope your pets get better! ❤

My guinea pigs have had little eye things that looks like that, my vet told me this sort of thing can be really common, it usually ends up just being cosmetic and not life threatening, it was definitely a hard lesson to learn for me cause i also had no idea how common it was.

I have several rabbits but have never dealt with dental issues. Question.. what is the argument against going ahead and removing the back teeth? Also, i have never heard of a vet not treating an ear infection regardless of severity. From one bun mom to another... this is super weird to me. Second opinion on that?

Oh wow! My bunny had front teeth issues in the past and we have an insurance too. I wanted to check his molars because he had some GI issues, we wanted to be sure that there was nothing wrong and our insurance didn’t cover the testing because he had issues in the past with his front teeth. Luckily America isn’t like this and separate front teeth with molars. Belgium sees it like a whole package😢

Vet bills are brutal
I have a 6 year old boy with a big cyst on a side of his neck
His behavior hasn’t changed at all
Estimate for surgery $1300+ and considering his age and location of a cyst I’m not sure if I’m up for a surgery

Girl, at this point I think you just need to be a exotic vet 😂

The rabbit thing happened from incorrect diet, and i also see your previous rabbit passed from GI which can also be from diet, they're eating too much hay which isn't even a part of their necessary diet. It should mainly be from pellets
