First off, THIS SONG IS STRAIGHT HEAT! Definitely one of my new favorites! So I think a lot of people are forgetting what rap is. Like I see so many comments saying that this song doesn’t talk about Jesus and it’s bad and secular but they aren’t understanding that Rap is a way of expressing your life and view on everyday life. It’s a story put in a catchy way to listen to it. Yes they’re Christian rappers but that doesn’t mean that they can just be regular rappers. To many of you keep assuming that if you don’t put the label of “Christian Rapper” then automatically they are secular and bad. Kendrick Lamar is a rapper but he is very real rapper that believes in God. Yes he swears but it’s the message that counts. NF doesn’t like the label “Christian Rapper” cause it deters people away easier and then they don’t focus on the message. Lecrae and Andy aren’t rapping about drugs and money like most mainstream rappers so don’t be comparing them like that. Every rapper is their own person with a different story to tell. Not every song by Lecrae and Andy and the others has to be church suitable. As long as it reflects God in some way then it’s good. Just because the beats are sounding like the mainstream music doesn’t make it mainstream. They just like the beat😂! You do to! So let them make some music that other people who aren’t believers can appreciate. It’s middle ground. Crazy it came out in 2018 >> gained popularity in 2021/2022 >> 2023/2024 every major media outlet (tv, film, advertisement) in America attaches this phrase to their products! FOR ANYONE WHO SAYS THE LYRICS ARENT CHRISTLIKE//CONFUSED HOW THIS SONG IS CHRISTIAN MUSIC:

This song raps about how they live out their faith instead of just talking/rapping about it. Related to the scripture of being doers of the word and not just listeners (James 1:22). “I write what I live, my life in the speaker” also “I don’t do the most but I do a lot” is stating they don’t need to let their righteous acts be known and be extra for attention because that’s doing the most. Andy and lecrae are saying they rather do the most for God then do the most to be noticed by men.
Also in Andy’s verse he says “I testify I don’t need a subpoena” a subpoena is a political term granting permission for someone to testify in court. Andy doesn’t need permission to testify about the Lord because he is unashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ (romans 1:16).

Also when they say “no big, feel like pac, shoot the shot. I’m coming in hot” is them stepping onto the scene and doing the Christ’s work, instead of hesitating they are just gonna do it (shoot the shot) as they have nothing to be afraid of for even if we walk in the valley of the shadow of death we fear no evil for His rod/staff comfort us! (Psalms 23:4). Also it is known that biggie and Tupac were shot killed. But the word of God says no weapon formed against me shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17), fueling their fire for God even MORE. Hence why they are “coming in hot”

I understand your frustration as it seems like they are trying to hide their faith. The way I see it is their early music is like the milk of the Holy Spirit. For people who are newly saved. (1 Peter 2:2) Once they start developing their relationship with God, they understand the references in Andy and Lecraes current music because they’ve grown to the meat of the spirit. The same goes for the artists. In their early career they were babies of the faith, drinking the milk but have grown into the meat of the Holy Spirit.

They also made this for a summer playlist, so it isn’t as serious as their solo work.

Anyways I hope this helps understand why it seems like Lecrae is hiding his faith when In reality, he’s just on a different page of his relationship with God. We also shouldn’t assume people’s relationship with God 🙏🏼but anyways be blessed
