BC election: NDP expected to form slim majority government

Nine days after the election, British Columbians have a clearer picture of the final result of the 2024 provincial election.

The BC NDP is expected to form a majority government, securing 47 ridings across the province.

In a statement late Monday afternoon, Eby said he had met with Lt.-Gov. Janet Austin, who asked him to form the next government.

The majority win comes after the final count of mail-in and absentee ballots revealed the NDP won the most votes in the riding of Surrey-Guildford, flipping the result from election night.

There will still be a judicial recount in Surrey-Guildford, although judicial recounts have historically not changed election results.

The win leaves the NDP with a razor-thin majority, which could cause a variety of headaches, including trying to appointing a speaker.

To whom to decided to vote NDP. Enjoy at least 4 more years of tent cities, drug problems, climbing crime rates, gas that costs over 2 bucks a litre, corruption, increasingly unafordable rent and food prices.

To those that voted the cons, I feel for ya. You are welcome to move to the east side of the mountains in AB where gas costs less than a buck fifty a litre, and don't have the same rent prices or level of drug problems.
