There are actual jamaicans that are non african descent but white/asian. Assuming this person is one of them, it would make sense why he said mixed race. To assume all jamaicans are comepletely 100% of african descent is a fallacy

people cn call themselves mixed because they are italian-irish or swedish-german or something similar. But normally what they actually mean is mixed ethnicity not mixed race.

It's crazy how the Internet has adopted the very singular definition of race that the Americans use. Yes, skin colour is a form of race but it ain't the only thing. Europeans [should] know this. Our history is littered with talks of race. H*tler was obsessed with it. Race has historically been about 'bloodline', 'of a peoples'. Your culture, language and sometimes of nations. Your skin colour was seen as one of many characteristics that alluded you to a certain race. It wasn't the race itself. Having blue eyes and blonde hair wasn't a race but it suggested that you were Scandinavian. As black people weren't native to Europe, the fact that one was black immediately showed people that you weren't European so to distinguish you from another European was pointless.
Ever wondered why Spanish people are called Latinos but Italians aren't? It's only Americans with Italian parents that classify themselves as Latino. Why was this the case? They both spoke Latin, both were heavily catholic countries and both had the same skin colour. Having said that, Italy is a nation with variant skin colours depending on how north or south you venture, but they were all seen as the same race. The N*zis saw Jewish people and gypsies as a different race despite them all being white.
All I'm saying is, we seem to live in a world where we only see skin colour as race, where in fact it's one of many if not just an indicator to one.
