I saw a short video, probably filmed from a drone, of a collapsed building. What was left cannot even be described as a ruin, it was just a dirtpile. This collapsed structure was also surrounded by other buildings that look undamaged. That definitely support the theory of builders failing to follow the building code. Corruption runs deep in this.

In Turkey, buildings have to be around 5 floors high for the seismic system, and most are 3

i am Turkish the only reason is our people didnt follow our earthquake rules for buildings and use cheap things while building and noone controls them.Second is ground type.... This will be a big lesson for us from now on nothing will be the same but we already lost many souls. God mercy on them and take your heaven. Amin 🙏🏻

I'm not a real cuddly type of person, but it was a difficult watching videos of those buildings collapse. I instantly knew I was seeing death, even though I wasn't actually seeing the people die.

Regulations may be a burden to manufacturers, but they're an insurance policy against the loss of life.

Don't let businesses trick you into supporting their cost cuttings it always leads to a loss of life, jobs, good health or living wages.

the cause of this earthquake was because of plate motion, but because the plates were moving so fast, the earthquake was more severe, so there was more deaths

hi I am turkish

The houses are not durable because the owners of these houses in our country use sea sand in their structures.

but there are also some good people, and the houses in the earthquake zone are still standing thanks to good people.

Accountability in Turkey? That prospect is about as plausible as holding Assad accountable in Syria, not happening.

They should make the new buildings with the Roman cement you talked about in a previous short

If you think for example how buildings in Chile and Japan can handle easily these magnitudes one thing comes in mind. The terrible quality of Turkish buildings.

All the rescue efforts have gone to Turkey, Syria has been neglected not only from rescue efforts but also media coverage, sanctions are stopping any effort by anyone. India did send some planes to Syria anyway but taking the relief material from the airport to the affected people in the conflict zones is another story, also Israel was the first one to offer relief material but to the Syrian regime religious hatred was more important than saving lives of their own people and they rejected Israel's offer.

The bill comes due and payment was lives sadly this time rather than money that should have been spent for better buildings.

It's interesting to see how India quickly jumped in to help from afar, despite Erdogan's pro-China and pro-Pakistan attitude, as well as his attempts to fund terrorism.

India proved what their Hindu culture teaches them- "The World is One Family"!

Why do people build near active volcanos and fault lines?

This was a blessing and less of a disaster even if tens of thousands of people died. I mean like not only does it instantly demolish all the non earthquake proof buildings it also pushes the people to call for accountability and it also temporarily creates new jobs it also allows for new opportunities to test new designs to ensure the buildings won't fall like pancakes..
