The Alien Race that invented Portals in Star Wars

In the Star Wars Expanded Universe, there was a species that originated from Dathomir called the Kwa. They are one of my absolute favorite alien species in the lore. The Kwa thrived eons before the Republic and even the Je’daii Order, the precursors to the Jedi. They traveled around the galaxy using Infinity Gates. This brilliant invention allowed the Kwa to instantly travel vast distances. This was during a rather wild time in the galaxy so the Kwa tried to use it for good. To spread their knowledge of the force to various planets and species.

That was all well and good until they met the Rakata. The comically evil, blood thirsty Rakata. They used their Infinity gates to travel to Lehon, the Rakatan’s homeworld and they almost immediately went to war with the Kwa for the technology. Armed with their superior strength, knowledge of the Dark Side and proto sabers, they quickly overpowered the Kwa. This forced this once great species to destroy their own invention so the Rakata couldn’t use it to grow their Empire. Eventually they returned to Dathomir without the ability to travel great distances, they devolved.

Meanwhile, the Rakata developed their own space travel and went on to construct the Star Forge in their home system and colonized and brutalized the Galaxy for thousands of years.
