Penn & Teller Fool Us Shawn Farquhar
#PennandTellerFoolUs season 7 #FoolUs #pennandteller

I was honored to be on the same show as Paul Gertner, Helen Coghlan, and Ondřej Pšenička.

Since another person copied the video and posted to it monetize and get views, I'm copying his description below:

Shawn Farquhar is an incredible magician who attempts to fool Penn and Teller with his own original trick. Penn and Teller have their own show called Penn & Teller Fool Us in Las Vegas where magicians go on the show to try and fool Penn and Teller. Illusionists Penn & Teller sit in the audience and watch as aspiring magicians try to impress them with a trick that the famous illusionists are unable to duplicate. If a magician successfully hoodwinks the legendary duo with a trick, be it a sleight-of-hand routine or a grand illusion, that person wins a trip to Las Vegas to perform as an opening act in Penn & Teller's show at the Rio Hotel & Casino.

I appreciate that the show's producers allows their performers to upload their act freely on YouTube. Its great for all of us.

His best trick is going greyer, yet staying devilishly handsome.

Penn is such a poet when he talks to the magicians in code. How does he word it so well so quickly??

I remember working on a cruise ship when shawn was onboard for a while. He wasn't as 'nerdy' as this when he was at the bar, he was a very cool personable dude. I remmeber one night he was performing, he discovered that there was a little girl who loved magicians but she missed his only show that week cos she was sick in her cabin. After the show, shawn went up to her cabin and performed a load of magic tricks in the door way to her cabin and gave her some magic cards n stuff. Legend!

Best trilogy ever. The references, the fast pace, the humor, everything was amazing

He said he hadn't fooled them just to have a clear way out of the parking lot later.

I’ve watched nearly every episode of FU and I’ve seen many skilled magicians. But I can honestly say I’ve only seen a hand full who are truly entertaining. Shawn may be a magician with cards and books, but what’s truly magical is his performance. I hope to see a lot more of him for years to come.

Let's all appreciate that this man is not only a magician, and he is not only a comedian, but he is also a master of misdirection with incredible mental acuity.
It's so hard not to get pulled in by sensory overload as he zooms from one distraction to another. If I had the means and the time, I'd fly to Canada just to see his act on his home stage.

When he says "It's my job" at 5:38 he's not bragging, he's just trying to come to terms with how cool his life is

I like to think that sometimes Penn’s strategy is just “If I say enough words with enough confidence, maybe I’ll accidentally say something that’ll convince him that we know how he did it.”

I love how much he referenced his previous tricks and just kind of brings it all together

I am so happy Shawn found a way to bring back and tie together the two previous acts. I also find myself smiling in the middle of the video, this is something that unfortunately is not happening so often lately. So who cares about him not fooling P&T, he will always be a champion in magic and a true entertainer!

Shawn is so entertaining, I forget sometimes, he is a normal Canadian with super powers,

I loved every second of it. And the fact he was able to misdirect Alison's attention so much that she didn't realise she signed and held sealed box of cards without knowing, just wow!

I can’t be the only one who saw his last name and thought it was like lord farquad from shrek

Absolute favorite part has to be at around 4:30 when you can almost literally see Teller's brain tearing apart at the pacing of this trick. "I've already done it, take a look!", he says... I really love your humor and the way you sound during your performance, you seem genuinely excited and passionate about doing magic. Even if you didn't fool them a third time, you still put on an incredibly entertaining show. Well done!

I’m so glad I found this on Shawn’s official account, because that means he might see this comment: Shawn, having become such a fan of magic and of so many magicians, it’s easy to get cynical as I start to pick acts apart more and see if I can identify the moves and figure out how they’re done. This time, I found myself smiling with childlike wonder, at the whimsicalness of it all, at the callbacks to previous performances, and the amount of magic you gave the performance completely independent of any sleight of hand or illusion. Thank you for making magic so much fun.

I love that in the first appearance, you make a deja vu joke, in the second you make a different deja vu joke and the third is a combination of tricks and patter from the first two, it makes it like one big extended trick or performance. Just one part of your excellent showmanship and style and patter

Excellent performance, Shawn! To address an earlier posted question ... I have attended the live Fool Us performances (only as an audience member .. don't be overly impressed) ... and the time P&T have to discuss the effect is barely edited, sometimes not at all. They walk on stage and take their seats, and what you see on the televised version is pretty tight with the in-person experience. We are coached when to applaud, and very short set-up breaks are taken between each act to prep the stage and requirements for the next performance. Sometimes a re-do is needed for the filming of the introductions, and the audience volunteer selection is done immediately prior to each respective act. The choices seemed very fair and random, but participants are taken back stage and given some instructions .... this is never shown on the televised version. When we attended the Merry Fool Us filming, several audience members were escorted behind the scenes and returned with festive, holiday sweaters. They were then "picked at random" from our audience, but this was accepted as fair by the audience since they were just some regular fans that volunteered and were chosen moments ago. I recommend the audience experience to everyone, so do not miss the opportunity if it ever presents itself to you.
