This video demonstrates use of the Fritz and Franz jig to rip lumber. It also shows how I rip thin strips for use as edgebanding.

Well the saw is in the shop. What a day!!! -30 all day. Tried lifting the crate from one side with the tractor and it disintegrated. Dismantled as much as i could . Got it on a cart and one of the wheels broke while trying to cross threshold. Had to rebuild a cart with the doors wide open. Not looking forward to my next gas bill. Tomorrow i need to get the laser in. Will keep you posted with my misadventures.

Thank you for taking the time to make this set of videos, they are very useful for a prospective buyer like myself. Truly appreciative!

I like your use of the Firtz and Franz jig for ripping thinner strips. Might I suggest that for anyone who doesn't have a drum sander or such post-ripping machine to surface the strips to exact thickness, that they use a short stop block on their fence to provide the reference rip width? That way if their fence is off - either purposefully set up that way as you do, or otherwise - that the strips will come out consistent in thickness. Of course that also assumes their slider is running parallel to the saw blade and the Fritz & Franz jig is correctly set up.
Again, another very informative video, Steve!

Thank you for this. I’m transitioning from a mobile carpenter to a small production shop and have been trying to figure out what the heck a sliding table saw is and how they work. I don’t have room for that monster but the cabinet saw I’m getting has an optional slider attachment.

Steve,

I do have a question.

I notice a little square block on the right end of your cross cut fence; mounted on your outrigger table. I can't for the life of me understand why that is there.

It seems to me that it is like a fixed stop. But why and why there? What does it do?

I bought a Felder outrigger ass'y, to install on my after market "sliding table". These are going to be installed on my brand new Powermatic PM2000 table saw. The Felder cross cut fence does not have that block. So the stock pushes right up against the fence.

Please help an old man try and figure out what is going on.

Incidentally, I have learned a plethora of ideas from you, in your excellent videos. I will be incorporating a number of them on my new "Toy".

Thanks for your videos.

Hey Steve, I really enjoy your videos, thank you for your time, I have learned a lot from you. You said in the video you use other methods for rips of longer boards. How would you rip a 6' or 7' or 8 ' Long board 5" W and wanted to rip it down to a width of say 4"? Thanks.

Very interesting I will make some of these things !
I can't find good info about tuneup or full adjustments for sliding table saws I mean the slider height, parallel, swing arm etc where is the starting point I got a old Hammer C-41 L I getting close I think I do better every time I put my head to it , but just tighten to secure the adjustment and it's off again, maybe I getting to picky for an old saw !
Nice video I am subscribing and get what I can thanks !

Thank you for the videos. I am considering a combination machine with a sliding table and this series of videos has been really helpful in understanding how I might utilize that feature. This video series provides a set of possible ways to rip. What do you actually use most often. Is one of these methods your "go to" one for most work? Do you favor one version over the others for one type of cut (thin strip cutting)? Does that change for other "routine" rips for sizing a work piece? Thank you.

Can you demonstrate how you load a 4x8 or even a 5x8 sheet onto the saw and ripping down full sheets?

Steve,

I recently got an altendorf. We’re a cabinet shop and prior to the slider, have used a delta Unisaw for 30 years. My question is when we’re processing 4x8 plywood for cabinet parts. What is your recommendation for ripping wide parts with slider?

Thank-you for your videos, I really enjoy them. I am looking to buy a saw/shaper combo from Felder. Would you happen to know what the drop off is between their Felder to Hammer lines?
Anyway your videos are much appreciated on my end and I look forward to using them for reference.

Take care
James
