Hi Rachel, thanks for the tip. I bring up my image on my tablet or I pad, in settings, brighten my screen, and lock image so it doesn't turn and tape my tracing paper onto my screen and trace from there in pencil. I then go over image with black ink and tape my paper onto my light pad, then tape my watercolour paper on top of that and paint it from there, that way I have no pencil lines on my painting. Thank you! Every other digital art tutorial I've seen assumes viewers have already acquired more knowledge than I have a the subject. All I want to do is trace my traditional art so I can make products like stickers, t-shirts, mugs for Christmas gifts. I hope this is how it's supposed to be done.

Thanks Rachel....very clear instructions. My hubby is a Photoshop wizard, among other things, so, I'll call on him if I get stuck. This looks like a great tool for us artists that don't want to take time to draw (I'm impatient). A little bit of a learning curve; but, it looks doable.

Thanks Rachel! Your sound effects are high technology. It always makes me laugh. ( Not a hard thing to I burst out in laughter & nobody else knows why!) Tracing is not cheating. I did it only once following you, by putting the photo on my window. I done so after 3 failed attempt. It was a cat. Personally I don't like to follow a drawing, just follow what the watercolour tells me to go. I mostly draw free hand because I have pix on my iPod only. I don't have a printer either. If I draw on my watercolour paper (like when doing an animal), it's usually just a very rough outline. Again, it's personal & if I had a printer, I would probably trace all of the animal. A learning curve I guess. No, I'm not one of those artist that can draw very well anything quickly. It takes me a while with a lot of erasing & start over going on!

If you save it as a photo it’s automatically a jpeg. I’ve done similar tracing method in Adobe Fresco with the layers. Have picked up a couple of tips.. Thank you. 😊

Try Da Vinci Eye, its a genius app and cheap - i use the Mural maker version _ My Iphone as camera and tracing i watch on my Ipad .... enjoy
