Met Police: How will scandal-hit force tackle its culture?

It brought down Dame Cressida Dick, so what can be done to root out decades of ingrained police culture that has proved so toxic to women?

They say that you get the police force you deserve and let's face it, our culture is heading down the same path.

At the age of 85 I can remember the time when I had great respect & trust in the police, but sadly that has disappeared to be replaced by zero respect & zero trust. The police no longer serve the public (even though it is through the public they get their pay) they have become self-serving. This was made so very obvious during the recent pandemic, & BLM protests, where their bullying tactics & blatant bias was there for all to see. I can not see this improving in my lifetime as it has become so ingrained. And, this is not just the Met, it is pretty much the same all around the country. One idea that might help to get the police on track is to get them out of their cars (just another police car going by) and get them back on the beat where they can meet & interact with the public.... Not going to happen!

Here's the problem with (don't paint us all with the same brush because of the actions of a few bad apples) defense, that the police always use. The so-called "good officers" know from day one who these "few bad apples" are, and they say and do nothing to weed them out of the police force. These officers don't become bad officers overnight or out of nowhere. They simply find other like-minded individuals on the police force that will protect them. When they work in an organization that institutionally stays silent about the well-documented behavior of these "few bad apples" for years, why would you expect them to not be sexist, racist, or not commit assault?

I'd be more concerned about the problems of our overall culture as nation which aren't even being acknowledged: rampant misandry and blaming of men for all society's ills for a starter.
Stop trying to carry on as if we aren't a sexually dimorphic species with a thing called human nature. The more we try to live at odds with that, the more and more ill-adjusted to our own nature we become, and the effects of that are blatantly obvious at the larger societal level.

Force body cams when dealing with the public. Trust must be earned. People must be held accountable on both sides of the ledger. Stop this act of your “friendly neighbourhood policeman” they aren’t friendly, they hold everything against you and actively try and get you to say the wrong things.

It will take some doing, the organisation is too great and still has the London mindset that it is ‘the premier Police Force’ . As a Detective in a Shire County Force I can tell you that in the 1960’s and 1970’s the Metropolitan Police CID were the most corrupt I ever came across. They were so bad we entered their area.

The police force may well clean up it's act. But winning back public trust, after the way they acted during the pandemic, is going to be very hard if not impossible

Police Complaints Authority (PCA April 1985), it was replaced by the 
Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC April 2004) not independent at all was replaced by
Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC January 2018)

Obviously something's wrong with 'who' is creating and replacing the corrupt organisations. Anyone know? It's the government cabinet in power.
