If you want some easy existencial dread, know that in the vastness of the universe, there could be billions of billions of stars with their axis turned just right so that an eventual gamma ray burst will travel the great expanse for millions of years and irradiate the surface of the planet, like being at the end of a radioactive cannon turret, except your're surrounded and they're very far and you don't even know if they fired already or how heavy the ordinance is until it hits you in the face.
