LIVE: Labour's Rachel Reeves addresses party conference in Liverpool

Labour’s first party conference in government for almost 15 years is under way with Rachel Reeves, the chancellor, set to address delegates in Liverpool.

After weeks of dire warnings, the chancellor has tried to strike a more upbeat note in a piece for The Times saying she has “never been more optimistic about our country’s fortunes”.

Reeves will step on to the stage at noon. Ed Miliband, the energy secretary, and Steve Reed, the environment secretary, will also address the conference today.
