IMPORTANT: This plugin will ONLY WORK if you have already bought an SSL certificate through your hosting provider. If you have issues with this plugin be sure to first check that you have an SSL certificate, and if issues still persist you might consider contacting your hosting provider as they regularly make updates that can affect these plugins.

If you need to get your web hosting and a Free SSL Certificate (note - I’ll earn a small commission and you’ll earn a discount when you use this link):

The internet is a BIG place, and there are plenty of bad guys lurking in the shadows waiting to steal your personal information. So today I'm going to show you How to Secure Your Website From Hackers! And it can be done in LESS than a few clicks with the iThemes Security plugin!

I'll also show you how to scan your website for Malware anytime you need, as well as how to add a secure padlock (SSL Certificate) to your site's URL so visitors know it's safe.

But first, WHY do hackers hack websites?

1. To obtain credit card information.
2. To obtain contact info to sell to unethical marketers.
3. To obtain usernames and passwords to gain control of your server resources.
4. Malvertising (sending spam to your website visitors and subscribers)
5. SEO Spam (using your site's authority to promote fake information on google)
6. Other classified info you may have.

So to keep that from happening, just follow the tutorial to keep your website SAFE and SECURE!

Excellent video. This is the third video I have watched from your YouTube channel and I have learned a lots of new things. If I were to ask anything it would be the questions that I asked concerning your video on creating a contact form. There were just a couple of things that were not covered in that video.

Your video was made in May, yet in August 2021 my plugin screens look nothing like any of yours. Is your tutorial redundant already? Or, have I downloaded a clone? Also, my icon in the dashboard has not tiny man in it. It's just a plain white shield with a border.

Of course my screens didn’t look like yours. 😫. They made some changes. When I changed the backend login from WP Admin to something else, it does say not found in the URL, but I noteiced that my "under construction" page does come up. I'm not getting the 404 page. Will I get the 404 page once my site is live?

Hey, great vid as always!
It made me think of my next planned website. Can you tell what exactly is needed, how many plugins to make a (smallish) e-commerce website secure? Like what is needed to make a website secure as possible: SSL, Sucuri and so on. It would help lot of viewers to ease their minds as website creation or making a website as secure as possible can be really overwhelming.

Thanks, Levi. What if I use more than one computer to access my admin, and thus one to two IP addresses (a desktop and a Chromebook, or a laptop and a tablet, when traveling). Can I input more than one IP address, so that I am not locked out of or have my account suspended when it's me using various devices depending on where I am at the time I need to log in? Thanks, again.

I just added the security to my website but it now allows both the original wp-admin and my new security password to access my dashboard, I did check it and it retained and showed success with the changed password ???

So there is no need for "limited login attempts" seperate plugin ?
