Interestingly the string setup of the oud seems to have similarities with the european baroque guitar, that had 4 double courses and the chanterelle. Yes and in fact the tone of the baroque guitar is much closer to the oud than the modern spanish guitar. However this definitely shows once more where our guitar has it's roots.
