it sounds more like the engineer didn’t follow the proper lockout procedure before maintenance

I worked as a security guard in a Keurig factory, and they use robotic arms to stack the coffee pods on a pallet where another robot wraps it up in plastic wrap. One day the robotic arm that stacked the boxes malfunctioned and was throwing boxes across the production floor. It was eventually shut down but it shows this tech malfunctions and when it does, people could be hurt.

man gets caught in manufacturing equipment Headline, "AI robot attacks human".

It's crazy. An electric carving knife attacked me viciously while I was cutting a ham last week. I blame the knife entirely.

Hey ABL
It’s called “Tag out, lock out”.
The process technicians use to disable machines when performing maintenance or repairs on equipment that is being repaired or serviced.
Automated production lines are going to continue to operate until de-energized and locked out so that inadvertent operation doesn’t occur.
This sounds as if safety protocols weren’t being followed.
Blessings from Oklahoma

Was the Tesla engineer named John Connor, and did the robot say he will be back?

I have seen enough auto manufacturing to know that those robots are not the kind of thing that looks like a human. That engineer was just in the way of an automated machine. Man was working on the machines and made a huge mistake. There is a lock out tag out procedure that should proceed any such work. In which he was in the wrong and probably just wants compensation for a mistake he made himself. Fired...

Saying a robot like this attacked someone is like saying a car that jumps into gear and hits someone attacked them. Equipment malfunctions all the time, and people get hurt. Hell, I lost the tip of my finger in a printing press it didn't attack me. I had my hand in the wrong place at the wrong time. That's why you have "lock out tag out." If you're going to be within a machines range of motion, you kill the power to it and put a lock on it. If you stand where that robot reaches to grab car parts and it's on, it'll grab you. All those robots have caution lines around them to let you know where the danger. If you go walking across a shooting range and get shot, nobody attacked you. You just put yourself in a dangerous situation, and shit happens.

It’s not a “robot”, it’s automated machinery. It either malfunctioned, or the employee was in the way of the robot doing his pre programmed job. 😂

stuff like this happens. I worked at a car manufacturing plant and one of the robots (not humanoid) was acting up. when the technician came to look at it, the robot suddenly spun around grabbed a fuel tank for a car and threw it at him.. the technician literally had to dive out of the way. This robot isn't even an A.I.

I've worked with robots, they are powerful, fast & dangerous. Not so much as to attack you, but they are moving from A to Z in sequence. Don't get in their way. The aren't after you but if you're in the wrong place, wrong time they will go right through you

There's a 98% chance he was standing where he shouldn't have been. They don't have bipedal robots walking around their plants; it's probably one of the big metal arms just waving around doing its thing.

As someone who has worked at the Austin Tesla factory for two years, I can say that the term "robot" is being misinterpreted. There are robots, but they're not humanoids. They're machines. The robots don't look like people, they're nothing like the images placed here.
This is a simple case of an engineer who was working on a robot improperly in some fashion. There is no circumstance in which any of the robotics would be able to injure someone outside of operator/user error.
Don't get me wrong, the machinery and the robots are really awesome. But this video does not represent anything or even closely resemble any of the robots that are used in the factory.
There are plenty of videos on YouTube of the Tesla robotics and they're just not these android humanoids you found pictures of.
The Austin factory makes vehicles. The robotics are part of that. They're advanced machinery. Nothing close to sentient humanoids.

They making excuses for the robot already?

Worker was in wrong place. You don't enter the path of the equipment. He violated the protocols. Robots can't attack, as they only do what they are programed to do. He may have been torn apart but it can't attack. He was in an area that was the path of production.

That's what the robot wants us to believe that this was just a malfunction.

They are learning and testing their abilities.

I think I heard about this a year or two ago. A robot malfunctioned and a woman when in to fix it, but it wasn't put into safety mode and moved and pined her, they got it shut down, but needed to get a technician to safely free her. It was the workers fault for not get it totally shut down befor the woman went in to try to fix the problem.

An accident at a factory?! What is the world coming to? OSHA needs to be deployed immediately!

I think it's probably a mistake to refer to it as attacking the worker.

Attacking someone implies, at least in my opinion, intent.

I think what's more likely is the robot was conducting its normal routine and didn't distinguish between the human being and the part that it usually picks up and works on.

I think that's why they clause so-called were dug into the man is because it was treating it like it's normal task.

The worker had just been vaccinated, and the robot became confused by his spectral signature.
