Wallaby Tutorial Convert Flash FLA Files to HTML and Javascript Animations

I ran a few Wallaby tests a couple of weeks ago. Very promising but definitely in beta mode. It was farily easy to use for simple time line animations but was easy to break by simply adding a simple glow or dropshadow to a movie clip. I'm sure that'll get worked out soon

I think some of you guys might be misunderstanding why Adobe is developing this. It will be the tool that many use to create their HTML5 and Javascript animations so they do not have to know math like a physics major. Understand? They are not confessing failure... they are assuring future Flash use... even in HTML users. If anything this may very well give Flash a wider user base. People like the easiest way to create complex animations... not the hard way.

@flashbuilding In that stance how is it any better than tools for modeling animations directly to js/html... well I mean something like old (and unsupported anymore) tool Glimmer from MS... Why to do with medium though flash actually

So, I am correct in assuming that it strips out your ActionScript, right? I made a really simple .FLA that just had an EventListener on an mc. I converted it and tested it, nothing happened.

I can't wait to see what they end up with here. Sheer brilliance (once they give me back my ActionScript).

hey dude I have flash Cs5.1 and I created a new actionscript 3.0 file and made a simple animation of a ball moving from right to left, but after i convert it wallaby gives me errors such as "Flash Actionscript not supported" but i didnt use any actionscript. help?

Just a qustion. Lets say i create a flash website with actionscript and all that stuff. Will the actionscript code still work if i convert the website? or is this only for animations?

I don't see flash going anywhere fast because it's used in more then just the internet. However with Apple setting the standards for mobile devices no one wants to design something they can't render even if other brands can render flash. This could in fact really save flash since I know I'm not the only one lousy with javascript...

This software to me is a confession that adobe might not have seen the major changes in time. Imho they lost a lot of support from developers and fans by releasing too fast new versions of CS without really outstanding new features.
Well, there we have it. I'm a Flash-Fan from the first minute, but I am starting to get oriented new with HTML5/Jquery/CSS3 because I really think that is the future technologies. Adobe will not die, they have Photoshop, Acrobat, etc. But the end of Flash may be near

Great tutorial Adam as always. It does not working in Firefox 3.6.13 (probably work in new Firefox 4) only works in Google Chrome ;). I think its pretty cool - its easy for me to create and animate thing in flash then in javascript (jQuery). But embedded flash movie (swf file) in HTML makes animation smoother then javascript animation in my opinion.

@flashbuilding tired of half measures of adobe, this will not have enough performance to deliver really rich applications, the as3 compiled into javascript is ridiculous idea, wont be human readable, both interpreted languages, there are siginificant differences between vector engines of browsers. These stupid features are to fool investors, I am quite sure nobody in adobe even thinks this is something gonna work.
