Good review.
I'm having so much fun with this game at the moment.
It's great to discover new spells and new items, since the only way to know what they do is to actually buy them.
That encourages a lot of experimentation and a frugal approach to managing your funds, which I appreciate.

I love seeing new people come to Easy Allies. Brandon Jones is indeed at Easy Allies but dont forget everyone else to! Dawn, Huber, Ben, Brad, Damiani, Bloodworth and Ian and Kyle are all former Gametrailers gentleman and are the collective group that made that channel what it was and makes Easy Allies what it is now.

Right so I've had some time to play the game myself and while I agree with most of your points, the thing about most shops being useless is kind of incorrect? The arcana shop is useful for buying upgraded arcana especially, and the special room gives the cursed items (which are really good) and the health items (which depending on your run can be super helpful). The one that takes a card and gives a random one is good sometimes because it always gives you an enhanced arcana back. If you can avoid buying health you definitely should be doing so.

I had basically the same complaints when I was about 10 hours in where I was expecting the craziness of binding of isaac and that just wasn't here. This game is much much less focused of RNG like other rouge-likes and it is more concerned with you improving your personal skill level. I will admit that after your first win it can feel like "why would I go back and play?" but starting to use all kinds of new abilities really can add a lot of replay ability as you learn to play the game in different ways and purposely use "bad" arcana to see if you can pull it off

Basics are not only close range attacks btw. Also "the only essential shop is the one that sells healing potions" that's not true either, i never even buy healing potions its a waste of money when you could have been buying arcana or relics instead.
