Other guitar teachers on YouTube will show you just the chords and strumming pattern then proceed to demonstrate it to you with all the intricacies of the picking without explaining that, whereas Justin teaches you all the nitty gritties. My fave online guitar teacher by far

So about this blue... I'm really not digging using the green screen thing any more - it's driving me a bit mad and I think it looks a bit crap too... so trying this blue sheet (paper backdrop) and I think it's looks ok... it's just to tie me over until I'm back in my studio in July... what you think - this blue or go back to the fakey screen using the green screen chroma key thing?

I think the hammer on the a string (he does it in every live version) adds a very simple but effective flavor to the song.

Thanks. This has been a sentimental song for me because years ago my nephew and I would sing just the snippet "I hope you had the time of your life". Only years later did I know it was by Green Day.

Great lesson, Justin. It's easy for someone to say you're the best teacher on YouTube. Well, I haven't seen them all, but you certainly stand apart from the ones I've seen. The reason is your focus on timing. You always talk about it make it a part of the practice. Copying what a teacher is doing is ok, but when you slow down and practice, it's so important to be able to practice it right. Thanks so much.

I mastered it with the ol’ faithful strumming pattern, now I’m trying the individual picking and it’s throwing me for a loop. Just gotta slow down and count it out.

Justin is a total legend, i learnt this song with a different youtuber (god knows why i strayed in the first place!) and then came to this video to see if there were any extra tips and all of Justin's tips and descriptions have made it so much easier to play well! <3
