My husband is RUSSIAN, and very proud of his roots and heritage, this song always stirs his emotions for his country, and the strife it went through.

Look how they all stand up to honor this patriotic song. They did earn this respect in blood and tears.

If history has shown us something that is: DO NOT MESS WITH RUSSIANS!!!
Millions of Russians died with this song on their lips so that we can live free.
I thank them on that, and so should all the nations of Europe.
Слава Родины!!!
Привет из Сербии...

No matter how people talk about Russia and USSR, they have the best military songs in the world.

It gives me goosebumps everytime I see this video. Look at the people standing, look at their eyes, and how their faces are set. It really speaks volumes, they really mean "don't you even think about hurting the Motherland, or else"

"Священная война" это не просто песня, это молитва о неминуемой победе, это то что заставляет всех русских встать и сражаться это обещание защищать свою землю до последнего вздоха. Эта не песня это ГИМН РУССКОГО ПАТРИОТИЗМА!!!

I'm an American and lived through the end of the Cold War but I must say this has to be one of the most badass and moving songs to come out of the USSR. Wow. Gives me chills.

What so many people aren't has nothing to do with politics. It has to do with perseverance and looking out for your own. It's the feeling of a man who loves his family and would do anything to protect them, the feeling of a grandmother who had to bury a child after a long Russian winter but is still determined to persevere in spite of the pain that will never go away.

I'm American, conservative and proudly capitalistic, but this piece speaks on a visceral level, lower down in the gut than heady discussions of logic or legislative policy. You can hear the blood and guts in her voice. One of the reasons I love Russian culture is even their pop singers are so much more REAL. It's clear from the first second that she actually has something to sing about. There is a message, a solemn and respectful passion which I think most of Western civilization has very much lost touch with. In spite of our differences, I've always had great respect for the Russians, and I think we have more in common than we realize. Both the United States and Russia are, fundamentally, countries of survivors. We're both gritty, blunt, and share contempt for the fake niceties and political correctness sweeping Western Europe.

So yes, I'll be blunt: I absolutely despise communism, but I will always have respect for the fire of the Russian spirit, and I pray our two great cultures will never go to war, because if we do, I can guarantee you it will be the bloodiest conflict the world has ever seen.

It is ironic that Russians ( Soviets ) made greatest songs ever in such hard time.
This woman is almost freezing the crowd with her "powerful" voice and naturally
making one of the crowds singing a awesome.
