FanControl pulled a sneaky! Opened it up today to tune my settings and there was a changelog with the newest update, one of the points were "program now asks you to save when you attempt to close it without saving (Thanks Jay!)". Really did a nice thing here with this video, keep up the amazing content and showing people these amazing softwares that not everyone knows about, definitely helping improve the PC community one step at a time!

Been using this software since it first came out and it has been regularly updated. Support this developer! it’s now the first thing I install on any pc

Thanks for shedding light on this Jay! I was a long time user of SpeedFan, and for the longest time it felt like the only "non brand specific" reliable fan control software out there, though it had it's own limitations. Looking forward to trying this out!

Over the past month and a half I returned to the world of building a PC after 20+ years, and your videos have been invaluable. This video is old, but it's still reaching viewers! Thanks for all you do for us.

I love FanControl! I've been using it since 2019. I have one suggestion for people that use it though. Open the program, click the three-dots, then click sensor settings and uncheck "Storage" monitoring. I found that having this monitoring turned on would make it difficult for me to unmount drives at times (I have a dual-SATA drive dock and a couple of USB docks). Simply unchecking this option fixed the issue entirely. I highly highly recommend FanControl though! My favorite feature is setting up custom curves that will link, for example, the speed of exhaust fans to whatever is the highest temperature in the PC (GPU or CPU) so that there will always be enough air exiting the case when there is a lot of heat being generated.

Been using it for a year or so, and was flabbergasted that one guy managed to *finally* come up with a sleek and intuitive all-in-one fan (or pump) control interface. No more proprietary, RGB-infested bloatware by ASUS, MSI, EVGA etc. The fact that you can customize the GUI so deeply is the icing on top. It's so good, I just had to donate.

I donated $100 USD (I live in Canada, so around $135 CAD) to Remí because I believe independent developers should be supported. Especially those who succeed in creating programs with common sense functionality, which big companies are often somehow incapable of implementing.

Not only does Fan Control look awesome, this was one of the best J2C videos I’ve seen. I could feel the passion and energy Jay has for these kinds of developers, pieces of software, and the community. Pumped Jay is infectious.

Also, on same topic, I used to use NZXT Cam to control case fans based on GPU, but I never liked having to use a hub.

I was thinking, "if this had RGB control in the same software, it would be perfect." And then you said it at the end. Yes! Dude is going to be questioning so much at first. Like, "Where did all this money come from?", and "Why is there so much traffic on my account?". Congrats dude, you deserve it.

Donation done. we need more guys like this, if only to show the big boys how it should be done with small independent developers showing the way.

Thanks for showing this! After 30 minutes of using it, it was an instant decision to donate to the dev. We need to support projects like this!

NaN is programming shorthand for “Not a Number”. Usually happens when a variable isn’t given an initial value when it’s created, but also can represent division by zero or other infinite numbers.

As a software developer, I appreciate your support for these guys!

This is literally what I’ve been searching for, for the last 3 days thank you jay and anyone that reads this if you can support the guy that made it

I'm never using any other fan control software again. It's crazy that mobo manufacturer's always have to make their software such a pain to work with, meanwhile one guy managed to make something that gets the job done without fighting the user, and for FREE!!! I donated as well because work like this deserves to be rewarded.

this is EXACTLY how i want my case fans to act. have a curve for each hot component (gpu/cpu) and just take the highest value of those curves for the case fans. its brilliant!

Since 2008 this has always been the missing peice to custom pc builds for me.
Thanks Remi for developing and Jay for putting it out there.

Just to clarify in case anyone gets confused. The "max" function on the "mix" curve selects the "max" fan percentage. NOT the max temperature. For example: if the GPU was 40C but you set it to spin fans at 100%... And the CPU was at 80C and you set it to run fans at 30%... The mix set to "max" would favor GPU and spin at 100% even though the GPU is cooler

This video needs an update ASAP. Fan Control has a kernel vulnerability CVE-2020-14979. Its unpatchable as Remi would need to sign a new kernel driver, he cant since he's an indie developer, only registered companies can do so. WingRing is the driver responsible for this.
