An honest effort to highlight Kalimpong in all its good & the bad. Kalimpong although a small town has a lot to offer if you dig into it a little more.

Finally a mature, thoughtful, and educative video. I was in Kalimpong during the early 80s. Some of my experiences then:
a) A small restaurant near Kanchan cinema sold a plate of non-veg momo and a bowl of non-veg noodles for 50 paisa each!
b) The Swiss dairy farm next to St. Augustine's School exported cheese and lollipops to Hong Kong, UK, Macau.
c) A small town with 15-20 schools that has kept the Scottish bagpipe legacy on till today
d) Prince of Wales, George Mallory, Lady Mountbatten, Rabindra Nath Tagore, Indira Gandhi, HH Dalai Lama visited Kalimpong
e) During 1959-65, the CIA, CBI, ROC, RAW, SB, CPP spies in KPG, following the exodus of Tibetans and Chiang Kai-shek supporters into KPG/India
f) The first Chinese school founded in Kalimpong/India, later converted to Jubilee High school
g) Best Vermicelli noodles (phing) exported to Nepal, Bhutan, Sikkim and other Indian cities
h) Scores of tarpaulin bag shops/factories that had tourists/jawans from all over India coming to Kalimpong to purchase. Good Old Days!

So well made video with the heartfelt words and words.. I spend my childhood in kpg and haven’t been able to go back in 15 years or so .. looking at the recent videos I see that lot of things are the same in a good and a sad ways .. We love our little cute kpg town .. ❤❤❤

I had a childhood friend from Kalimpong. We went to a boarding school in Mirik. We separated after 4th grade. I always think about her and miss her. I wish I could meet her again. One day i will definitely visit Kalimpong. ❤

Hi, well made video. Was born & brought up in kalimpong. I live in Chennai now. I'm glad you mentioned the good & the bad sides! Feel sad when I see the crowds, squalor, countless vehicles etc. The town I grew up in was a sleepy, beautiful green place. But the good still remains. Nothing can take away the beauty of the Himalayas, daras, kholas, etc. And the Haat was a great favourite always..

Very humble & nice video.Made me nostalgic as i studied for past 7 years from1998-2004 at St.Philomena Girls high school. Thankyou for showing us this video.I really used to enjoy eating momo from Gompus hotel where my father used to take us before reaching us to hostel, eating ice-cream from Kalash, watching movies in The Novelty hall & doing marchpast from there to enter the public ground during 15th August.I really missed those school days.
