Honestly this series was my childhood. It’s a shame they no longer plan to make new ones. I played this with my cousins and even my dad! My dad and I always competed for world records on javelin and Hammer throw. Vancouver, London and Sochi were the best games of the series hands down.

Hanna Barbara had the answer. The Olympics license was too much of a pain so Scooby Doo's Laff-A-Lympics parodied the Olympics... they had some real sports, some real sports with weird rules, and some made up sports which just riffed on the format and had them traveling around the world competing to do random things like photograph the loch ness monster, rescue mermaids, rocket races, etc.

This kills 2 birds... by removing the license and blowing open the doors for new and wacky 'sports'.

We never got a Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022, either. Maybe a crossover like the Crash & Spyro GBA Games would work. I never played them officially, but in Crash Purple and Spyro Orange, Ripto teams up with N.Sane Dr. Neo Cortex to go up against Spyro the Dragon and Crash Bandicoot.

Or Sonic could team up with the Blue Bomber himself, Mega Man.

We never got a Mario & Sonic Pyeongchang 2018 because of the ban, nor a Beijing 2022 for the same reason, and now they're ditching Mario & Sonic for NFTs. Wow.

Maybe Mario and Sonic at the Olympics should become a live service game where they just add new content to it every 2 years

I wished that all the past Mario & Sonic at The Olympic Games are on Nintendo SWITCH games just like they did for mario and sonic at the olympic games tokyo 2020 because no one are playing Wii, Wii U and Nintendo 3DS anymore now that they're moving onto Nintendo SWITCH and there aren't going to be anymore released on Mario & Sonic at The Olympic Games in the future like the Paros Olympic games for example.

I can't see it happening, especially 2D. Sonic has to have speed, Mario has to have tight content. Sonic is a super atmospheric thrill ride, Mario delights mainly with gameplay.

I can imagine a sports mix like that one on Wii with basketball, volleyball, dodgeball and ice hockey. Even that is a push with so many Nintendo characters available to feature.

Good they finished on a high note, though!

I really hope that happens! I’m really disappointed at Nintendo and Sega right now because they didn’t made Mario & Sonic at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. This the doing of the IOC (International Olympic Committee) All of us fans need to talk a lot of sense into the CEOs of the 2 companies. This includes persuading the IOC to agree with bringing the Mario & Sonic series back. Will you all please help?

I heard an old rumor that Sega was thinking about doing their own Olympics game with all Sega characters or something like that. Wonder if it was related to this. Sucks that the game was cancelled. I don’t play it but my little cousins do.

I’ve never played any of the Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games. Which ones should I start 1st? I think that Mario and Sonic should get another crossover game, but something that’s different from their mainline games. Maybe a new 2D platformer game that combines their speed when running like sort of a runner game.
