Many candy makers regularly warn about the dangers of the heating phase of hard candy and taffy, especially to people who are inexperienced at handling sweets when they are still at that temperature.

Remember, kids: Boiling water is off of your skin as soon as you pull your hand away. Molten sugar is *not.*
