Have you ever looked at a pilot, walking through the terminal, pulling that signature pilot bag?
In todays episode you will get to look inside that bag and see what is inside!
We will look at both what the pilots legally have to carry inside and what Mentour thinks is a good idea to have in there.
Enjoy!

I always thought that those bags had a sneaky parachute hidden in them ;)

Oh... might I add, the real reason for an extra pair of underwear is for those stressful days pilots have to deal with 50knot crosswinds and thunderstorms 😆

The item I'm the most proud of, in my flightbag, is a ball inflating needle... I've saved the day many times by deflating the kids footballs that we can't accept on-board unless deflated... 😊

Don't know why, but watching/listening to this dude is like meditation. Keep up the good work!

Idea for a video.
How do you deal with toxic behaviour in the cockpit ( by crew or fellow pilots or even other people in the airline) love your vids I've been watching since the beginning!

I am not a pilot, however, I am in a occupation with many similarities. It is quiet obvious to me that you know your stuff. I appreciate the manner how you deliver your expertise. Very well done. Your company is fortunate to have you as a member of their team.

I watch a lot of pilot videos but you are by far the safest in every aspect of aviation. Your number one priority is safety and that's great! You're extremely knowledgeable about your aircraft and others and that makes you a great pilot! Can't wait for more videos!

Wouldn't it be the greatest prank ever if we found out one day this guy isn't even a pilot?

This is really interesting to me. I always thought the pilots were carrying a few changes of clothes/toiletries for overnight stays. I just assumed you'd be staying away from home in hotels. I didn't realize you needed to bring so many things with you to do your job. Thank you for sharing this!!

So let’s see how Kelsey would change this based on 747. Love to see another with you two.

This is great thank you, even though i've only got a PPL and not pursuing an airline pilot job

I am such a nervous passenger, your videos of take off, landing and turbulence have done so much good for me.
I will still be terrified but some of the noises will be not so frightening.
This is just interesting, whenever I get on a plane it is super scary, but you have made it easier.
My family live about 4 hours flying time away, so, no choice!
Thank you x

A better question is, what's in the *passenger's* bag? I worked part time for TSA a few years ago. One day I was running the x-ray machine when I saw a weird looking skeleton on x-ray. I called for a bag check and the officer found a live cat stuffed into a carry-on.

This video was random in my home list but I found it fascinating. Thanks for posting. I'm sure many new recruits find this very helpful.

For GA pilots I've heard many recommend a portable airband radio also. Not as much of an issue when you have 3 radios though :)

I remember during the 90’s that the pilots used to carry 2 bags. One like yours and the second one, which was heavy, containing all the Jeppesen charts. (Prior to the iPad revolution. It was a nightmare, especially the need to update them so often!

In addition I carry binoculars. They are very handy sometimes. For example to check the runway for birds before take off. And I have a cap for when I take off or land into the sun.

When I was a pilot, I always carried two pairs of reading and sunglasses each, a copy of all my essential documents, medical records on a flash drive, and at least two pairs of underwear, Essential medications, toothbrush, flashlight, earplugs, headset, etc., all were put into plastic bags for protection. The use of EFBs was wonderful, and as a result, traditional, bulky, sectional map binders were no longer needed. Two sealed bottles of water and snacks were a good idea as well. Don't forget your car keys, wallet, passport, as well as your airman's and flight physical certificate.

Thanks for the video. I'm a very new student pilot, actually just setting up my pilot bag now. I've got that same headset, and I'm honestly amazed by how good it is - so glad I spent the extra money up-front!
