Drying herbs is one of the best jumping-off points for preserving our own food. Herbs are incredibly easy to grow—and tend to grow in abundance! Also, because herbs contain so little moisture, the preservation job is pretty much done soon after they're harvested. What's more, dried herbs make delicious homemade seasonings and teas at very little cost. Learn a few simple methods for drying and preserving some of the fresh herbs growing in your garden then try them out in your home. You'll be glad to have fresh flavor preserved for the colder months ahead.

More on herb basics from Mother Earth Living: Culinary aficionados describe herbs as they would a fine wine or an intoxicating perfume. And why wouldn't they? Aromatic, flavor-rich herbs truly are intoxicating, and not just in a culinary sense, but medicinally, too. Their flavors and aromas are rich in medicinal import. Grow your own herbs at home, then harvest them to make fresh or dried seasonings, teas, potpourris and other herbal crafts. You'll save time and money by stocking your backyard or windowsill with these little green treats and wonder why you didn't try this a long time ago.

Thanks for the tip of not crushing the dried herbs when storing them! I'll keep my leaves intact! Nice video!

To secure a handle of herbs, like sage, one may also use an elastic band. As the herb dries the elastic adjusts around the shrinking stem, no need to adjust string or wire.

She didn't mention how to dry the high moisture herbs like basil cilantro etc. She just mentions how to preserve it
