Giannis ( not Yanis, oops thanks Fezzik76) actually didn't travel, at least on my review. He took two steps after picking up his dribble. Granted they're pretty big steps. You get two steps without the dribble before you have to shoot or pass.

Regarding traveling: As someone who is obsessed with basketball to the extent that I have read the rule books and pay attention to the changes I feel qualified to definitively explain the traveling rule…
A player can technically take 3 steps while holding the ball… The count begins once a player has “gathered” the ball, and the count starts at zero. The ball is gathered once their hand is under the ball or they touch it with two hands after a dribble. Whatever foot a player is on at the time of gathering the ball is called the “gather step” and they are allowed two steps after the gather, which is why the “gather step” can also be called the “zero step.” Zero-step, one-step, two-step, it becomes a travel at the three-step.
Many basketball fans still do not understand these rules, as it was common in years past to count steps after the last dribble, which is not correct. People are used to simply counting steps when in fact the difficult task of calling travels today is knowing when exactly a ball has been gathered. You have to watch their hands, not just their feet. (See James Hardens infamous step back which is not a travel, usually, and requires slow motion cameras to be sure.)
People complain about traveling in the NBA but the truth is that nearly 97% of traveling calls made in the NBA are correct because they only call it if they are sure, which is better than the alternative of blowing the whistle whenever it seems close, or a creative move has been made.
There are some more rules regarding pivoting, that even less people understand, but I wont get into that unless someone asks me.
Hope you read this. And I hope it helps.

Allot of what looks like "traveling" usually isn't. You're allow 2 steps from the point when you take possession of the ball and don't dribble again. So if you're moving fast and you bounce the ball and take like 2-3 steps before you touch the ball again, you can THEN take another 2 steps before you need to shoot..otherwise it's traveling.

There's no rule about how many steps you can take between dribbles. When I use to play, if I stole the ball and had a fast break, I'd have a solid 4-5 steps between dribbles.

Some teams randomly have a third kit with sleeves.
Used to be more common early 2010s, but players hated it.

Y'all should do Steph Curry's top 30 3-pointers. It's an insane video that really shows why he's the best shooter in the history of the sport.

you're right about basketball being a street sport. kids start off practicing these "showboating" moves while learning to play the game and they are important at the right time. we used to practice them in peoples backyards and driveways and even waiting on the side for a game to end so we can play. you gotta respect a good crossover or fake no matter what lol. and being able to palm a ball is what separates the men from the boys

That LeBron no look pass to Zizic in the 2nd to last clip looked so simple yet remains one of the cleanest/smoothest assists ever. Trust me when I say, we're really gonna miss this man once he retires.

The rules on traveling have gotten more relaxed over the years. Some of the things that aren't called these days would have been called in the 80s, and possibly even the 90s.

Even if you think they allow a little leeway on traveling in the NBA, there's also the fact they are professionals and have gotten *really good* at the footwork it takes to not actually travel according to the rules.

The way it works is, you can only take two steps forward after picking up the ball after a bounce with two hands. These guys are 6 foot plus with long strides. Whats two steps for them after picking up a drible is 4 to 5 steps for the average person.

👍you get TWO steps once you pick up your dribble before you are called for traveling within those two steps you can do a lot

A big part of the reason Steph's fakes are so effective is because he's such a lethal 3 point shooter and he gets his shot off insanely quick compared to most other players. Defenders never want to give him any room because he doesn't need much to get a good look, so they end up guarding him super tight. Naturally this means a lot of players bite hard on shot fakes when they're defending him.

Mike, some did have on "sleeved" jerseys. It was something the NBA/Nike tried during the 2015/16 season and the players hated them saying it was restrictive. Some like LeBron actually cut slits under the arms because it was too tight and affected their shots. Others you may have seen compression tops under the players jerseys, which is something new cause the NBA used to not allow players to wear anything under their jerseys that stuck out past the jersey like college does.

You should do more of the NBA moments that get more crazy. There are good videos like this but it’s with dunks and ankle breakers

Manu ginobli is probably my favorite player just because of how he was able to come of the bench. He was European and was one of the people that heavily utilized the euro step. It’s like a double crossover in soccer. It’s very interesting how many parallels there are between soccer and the European style of basketball. It’s way more focused on body language and confusing the opponent.
