I use M1 Finance because of you! I don't have a huge amount of money in there right now but I'll tell you what, my dad has been using it and he LOVES it! He has much much more money in there than I do.

I've been using M1 for about 6 months. I've been happy so far but still want to learn more about what I can actually do on the site. I automated everything when I signed up because I am a procrastinator 😒. I prefer using the site on my laptop and not the AP. I tend to log in several times per week to see what's what. Every so often I add extra money. It took a little searching to figure out where to click to do that but like everything else it's easy once you know how! 😄

Nice overview of M1 Finance - especially considering your personal experience as a customer. While M1 doesn't charge trading commissions, the company makes up for that "lost" revenue in 5 ways. M1 Borrow, selling short sale shares, loaning out your uninvested cash, directing order flow, and the annual fee for M1 Spend.

(I just don't want people to think M1 is a charitable organization. Free ain't free.)

I don't have M1's numbers, but the company operates on a narrow margin which means better rates and more affordable financial products. M1 is taking effective steps to democratize finance for the small investor. And that's a good thing!

I like M1 for my long term investment. I have been using Yotta for my short term savings (funds I expect to use within 3 years)

Exactly what I needed! I am currently using Fidelity but thinking of opening another brokerage acct to start a smaller portfolio and will definitely add M1 finance to my list to research. Thank you for sharing :)

Does the 1% Apy checking pay you a dividend monthly ?

I can tell you it’s NOT M1 Finance. Easy to set up, but difficult to use. Very slow to show changes you’ve made, and it’s been a week and a half and I still don’t have the money I transferred out of my spend account.

I’ll stick with SoFi.

Some aspects of M1 seem very interesting, but too much trouble to use.
