Going to College Out of State: Pros and Cons!

Here are my top pros and cons for those deciding whether to go to college out of state or far away from home. I moved from the east coast to California for college. I am currently a freshman at the University of Southern California studying Journalism.

my dream is to go to standford university but I live in Texas atm, the pro I do have is that I have a lot of friends and family out there and I use to live in California so I'm aware of the time, weather and etc

theirs school in-state that would be perfect to transfer to but the people I know that goes there were all so fake to me and would make my highschool expiernce way better if they weren't so fake and straight bully me even though we used to be friends . honestly don't want to associate myself with them especially because the school is its a big school/ PWI and the black community is usually together I rlly don't want highschool drama all over again. Theirs another school I would rather go to thats out of state but no far from at all I feel way more comfortable going there but because I am cc student outstate it will be harder for me to get in and tuition wise to if I don't get scholarship . its like everybody and their mama goes to this school where I live compared to the other school which are either to expensive or lower rank. Do you think thats bad idea going out of state for that reason or do u think they won't gaf after a yr

Honestly the pros aren’t even pros. You didnt mention that out of state you get triple the tuition balance because you are from out of state

Im looking a mostly out-of state schools, I mean there's nothing wrong with Maryland (where I live) But I want a new atmosphere and the school where I go to is not very diverse and majority of seniors each year go to the same local schools and it's basically like highschool 2.0 and I want to broaden and meet new people. Also I want to go to big schools and ones they are more competitive. (I'm looking at UPenn (my sis goes there, she wanted nothing w MD too), WashU, Duke, USC, BostonU, UMD College Park, Coastal Carolina as sort of a safety, and prob 1 more school)

Please can someone answer this. And I’m able to attend a community college (online) while in Georgia that is located in California? Since I’d like to attend a college in California. Or should I go to a community college in Georgia, and my credits will transfer when I move to California?

I’m really hoping to go to a school in New Jersey. I’m from California so the environment will be very different there. I’m trying to convince my parents to let me go but the tuition is the major problem :-/ it’s a private school so it’s very expensive (plus room and board makes it worse)
I’ve lived in SoCal my whole life but I’ve really wanted to live on the east coast so I’m hoping I can find a way to pay.
