How can Africa pay for a climate-positive future? African leaders want sweeping changes to the global financial system, to help the continent adapt to the effects of extreme weather. At the first ever Africa Climate Summit in Kenya's capital, the discussions with the private sector and civil society, focused on raising funds to help adaptation and resilience in the face of climate change.
Kenya already generates most of its power from renewables, and wants to go all the way by the end of the decade. But despite being able to harness the power of the wind, water and sun, it's still struggling to maintain a constant energy supply.
Across town from the grand discussions at the climate summit, a more modest initiative is attempting to help make the city more liveable. Nairobi is growing fast, and so is the waste it produces. It's struggling to manage and recycle it, but some Nairobians think all hope is not lost.

You can do a 1000 agreements with African countries, but when you've coups all the time it's not very useful. Corruption is also high, so when you give them money it's no guarantee that it reaches it's destination.

Some good things happening in Kenya. It is clear the leadership there took a good look at the matter and made effort to strategise.

Africa: we want independence from the west. We call all African countries to come together and demand money from global interests so Africa can prosper.

How to stop climate warming? With renewables.
How do we do it fast enough? We don’t, it’s not possible to do it fast enough.

More important question:
How can African countries de-risk from Western nations and get them off their property?

African leaders must first learn to take care of BASIC ESSENTIALS such as investment in infrastructure, education - including toilet paper in schools, etc.- before reaching into the wallets of donors who always come with strings attached!!! GET YOUR HUT IN ORDER AFRICA!!!

I heard the part about 'give us more money' but no one mentioned the population increased by twelve times during the 20th century. That may have a little to do with the current desperate situation. Oops. Reality can hurt.

African problem is not about climate, it is a conflict problem made by USA and Europe. one of the examples, Libya is a desert country, but it had been made heaven by Gaddafi unfortunately western killed him and changed it to evil, so we must focus on the conflict, let's solve this first.
