09.23.2022 | 4:30 PM | RUNNING SPRINGS - A wildfire blew up quickly near Running Springs and ran for what was originally reported as 50 acres but has now been down graded to 27 acres

At around 3:25 firefighters were dispatched to reports of a fast moving brush fire located south of the town of Running Springs off Highway 330 and Forest Rd 1n09

Upon arriving on scene, they found a fire around 3-5 acres with a rapid rate of spread running up hill to the north.

A 2nd alarm was immediately requested and fire fighters and air resources are attacking the blaze from ground and sky.

The smoke column could be seen from all areas of the San Bernardino Mountains as the smoke column reached high in the atmosphere and started to cap out looking like thunder cloud.

The fire has slowed in spread but continues to grow.

More updates will soon be available.

The cause of the fire is unknown but the point of origin is right in the middle of a popular area that is used as an out door shooting range
