DC-3 landing at pvt gold mine near Skwentna, AK

Myself and Johnny bringing Desert's DC-3 into a private gold mining operation west/northwest of Skwentna.

I am Uruguayan, 83. I flew on a DC-3 twice in 1965 from Montevideo to Punta del Este. Airline, PLUNA, travel time 23'. Seated 28 pax. Nice ride, cabin perhaps noisier than today's jets'. All in all sturdy aircraft.

Old girl still doing it gracefully. The DC-3 is still one of the best looking planes ever.

Approx 55 years ago used to watch these doing top-dressing (crop dusting) in Rotorua, New Zealand. The sound of those radials is just amazing.

Not many other planes with the kind of service life of the venerable DC3, doubt there ever will be. The mother of big, comfy planes. Makes me happy to see some still in service--about 300 as of 2022, which is not bad for a plane that's nearly 90.

I saw this plane collide midair with a Cessna 150 in Louisville KY in mid 1960’s when I was a child.
Came inside to tell mother what Id seen.
The Cessna crashed into a neighborhood very close to where I was.
Cessna pilot turned out to be a friend of our family.
I became an aircraft mechanic for USAF and later Delta.
