I was so interested that I looked up that translucent crawfish. It’s an Orconectes sheltae, which was thought to be extinct until very recently. What a neat capture!

I used to have dreams when I was kid about finding a Goonies style cave in my yard. I am so jealous😂 thanks for sharing

crawling in a cave is one thing but crawling under lose boulders is what gets me.

This is SO incredibly cool. This is, Imho, the best sort of thing YouTube can be: real people sharing real experiences!

Thank you all so much for sharing and i wish you all many more happy explorations!

Why don’t we see piles of dirt & debris after 3 days of digging? The entrance looks natural to years of looking like that!

3:09 was a nearly a possible serious injury. Excellent recovery though. Three points of contact rule: you should be as sure of your handholds as much as you are your footholds.

Watching this again but I find it really interesting because most cave explorers know each other and often spelunk together or soon after each group. And having all of your friends I get to see them caves from multiple perspectives

You guys should take a black light with you. I can totally see some of those caves coming to life under a powerful black light.

8:58 I was wondering why the crayfish was moving towards his finger but then backed off real quick. Then I realized that cave animals have evolved to have small eyes and thus very limited vision. It probably saw parts of his finger in the water or something and thought it was piece-sized food, until it got close enough to realize that the "food" was much bigger than it was and decided to back away.

It's very hard to find passages that nobody's ever been in these days.

After a few more months, that cave should be huge.

I've always remembered the difference between stalactites and stalagmites is simple to stay connected with the roof you need to hold tight and to grow up strong and mighty
