Dividing Quantities into Given Ratios

Remember the given ratios represent the simpler or simplest form of two "Size or share of each parts".
They didn't gave the actual size of the unequal parts but they simplified it to 4:5
That's the trick

Suppose 270 dollars is divided between 2 persons then

4:5 is the ratio between two persons's "share " remember that.
Share is the size of each person.
[1apple is divided into two parts.
Each part share or size is 1/2 .
1apple/2parts=1/2of a apple per part
1/2 is not a part but it is the size of the first part & second part]

If u think deeply, 270 is not divided into two parts but it is divided into **1 whole and 4/5 part ** i.e 1.8 parts .
That's why the share is unequal .
How did I find out 1.8 parts?
270 is the total amount and suppose I know one share 150
270 shall be divided by how much to get 150 i.e 1.8 parts
270/1.8=150 per 1 part
And the rest 120 belongs 0.8 part
Dividing a whole no by decimal.no will always give unequal sizes .
We can consider 1 part out of 1.8 to mean one person Nd another 0.8 part to mean another one person .

Now back to the sum,
Suppose there are 2 persons (2parts) then one of the person is getting 'x' out of those 270 Dollars and 'y' out of those 270 dollars .
X +y = 270

Now in the question the trick is that they have given me the simplest form of x:y .
(4:5 cannot literally be the money as they don't add up to 270)

So dividing X and y with HCF reduces them to 4:5 .
Now pause and think about HCF .

So 4&5 are factors which does not fall in the HCF region but are the factors of x &y respectively .
HCF assume it to be H
X= H*4
Y=H*5
X+y =270
9h =270
H=30
Place it u will get X and y ..
