How to make Windows Snap better with Fancy Zones

Been looking for this ever since I tested out one of my monitors in a vertical orientation where its optimal to have at least 3 rows going across the screen. My efficiency will greatly improve with this, Thanks!

On Linux KDE snapping works great, you define the hotkeys yourself and you get all the corners and sides (so 8 positions excluding fullscreen and minimized). Better, you can send windows to another workspace (virtual desktop) with hotkeys and switch to those workspaces. Of course you can also design your own layouts with any tiling window manager by defining the pixels and use many more out of the box layouts. In my opinion it is more convenient to use more workspaces and only tile windows for whatever you need to use at the same time.

Windows is not for me (too many problems) but it is good to see that MS finally makes Windows a bit more customizable (again). Powerusers hate it when they are stuck to whatever the company has decided, give users the freedom to do whatever they want to do with the software.

You can actually configure multiple monitors by making the display your want to make zones for your main display in Windows Settings and then creating your custom zones with Fancy Zones (and changing back to your desired main display afterwards). It seems to remember each monitor's settings even if it is not the main display anymore. Have been using this with my vertical monitor for the last week without any problems.

Sweet. A lot of laptops don't support discrete graphics using DisplayLink. I picked up an ultra-wide monitor and can split it 3 ways in columns. Almost as good as a dual display in my office!

If you want a full screen app to stay within the fancyzones window, how would you go about this? I've tried lost of ways and can't get it to work.

man dual monitor isn't enough anymore. i need triple now. autocad, 2 folders, pdf. excel, calculator and opera gx

I appreciate the information and tutorial. It would help greatly in future tutorials that involve keyboard shortcuts if you either added a camera view to your keyboard or added a text to the screen, or explicitly narrated each time that you are invoking a keyboard shortcut. This would enhance our learning and lesson confusion.

This tool is such a nice feature. I can get ocd at times, love that the windows stay all neat. Although, sometimes the windows will overlap, (like certain programs, (ex. files will fit side by side but chrome will not kinda thing..) I would like to override all programs, my current issue.

I tried this but my windows tabs overlap each other every time i try the 3 way vertcial grid. Any help????

I cannot get any browser window I use (Google, Edge, etc) to minimize horizontally beyond 400px so I cannot snap windows to my chosen FancyZones layout. Anyone have a solution to this?

I'm working with version 0.22.0 and the Fancy Zone is not working.
No matter if I'm running the software in administrator mode or normal. I have 3 monitors 1080p stacked one in the side of the other, and I'm tired to keep trying.

Do you know what could be happening?

How to maximize video within the zone. As when I click on the full screen instead of getting maximized in the zone it covers the whole screen and thick bezels take up a lot of space which is not comfortable.

Thanks for the hot tip. This looks pretty useful. I wish the Internet browsers would auto adjust the website to be more responsive towards the custom sizes of the windows though. I'm guessing some of the websites you showed as an example might not be mobile responsive?
