Paraguay kinda did become Prussia. They just forgot that the real Prussia only got where it was because in Europe there's always someone who'll bankroll you to fight the other guy.

As a south american myself, i would love to see more alt his of our continent, such as if the bolivian-peruvian confederation survived, if Patagonia stayed independent, if gran Colombia survived, if the independence wars failed, if the pan-spanish state was formed, if Brazil broke into smaller countries, if argentina won the Falklands war, if Uruguay or Paraguay didnt exist, what if the spanish monarch escaped to south american in the napoleónic wars, what if latín américa was rich, etc...
There is just so much to talk about that it seems like nobody cares.

I’ve actually been wondering this for a while. As a suggestion for a future video “What if all English speaking American colonies, all Spanish Speaking American colonies, and all French speaking American were able to unite into three countries?”. Perhaps a bit convoluted, but I think it would be interesting.

Can you do a "What if the league of 3 emperors survived ?"
WW1 would be incredibly different if it endured.

Because of the Butterfly effect due to a lack of immigration to that part of the world. Lionel Messi's ancestors move to the United States instead, where he becomes a baseball player and spending much of his career with the Boston Red Sox's and recently transfering to the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Edit: He recently signed the Real Madrid Baseball in a newly formed European Major League baseball.

What if the Boers in South Africa beat the British and maintained independence?
What if Argentina unified earlier?
What if Gran Colombia had stayed intact?
What if all of Hispanic America United under Bolivar?
What if the Spanish Empire had preserved said territories in Latin America?

Paraguay went to war with Argentina because they wanted to move troops through Argentina to get to Uruguay and Argentina didn’t want bad relations with Brazil so it declined but Paraguay still moved troops through Argentina leading to war this war was also a continuation of the Uruguayan Civil War and happened because Uruguay wanted to help its ally

Solano Lopez really trusted that the Federal Party would join him in Argentina (Argentina was an unstable country and the Unitarians had recently seized power through a civil war)The federals always saw the paraguay war in a very bad way and were anti-Brazil, while the unitarios only wanted to avoid more wars and gain territory from the indigenous. Some provinces rebelled but not with such force and too late, the federals saw Paraguay as another decentralized Argentine province and viewed the unitary government's war as collaborating with an invader. the federals did not have much confidence in lopez since before he had feared a small war against the province of corrientes for missions and he was willing to collaborate with brazil in the guerra grande against the confederation. but if lopez managed to get the feds to take power, they would not hesitate to support him in a war against brazil and support the white government of uruguay. If the Brazilian naval supremacy in the rivers anyway, a Paraguayan victory against Brazil would be very difficult. also keep in mind that solano lopez was not so crazy at the beginning of the conflict, he wanted free navigation of the rivers rather than an outlet to the sea and he really believed that if no one stopped brazil it could annex uruguay and even later seize all the la plata basin. In this scenario, Paraguay would achieve, just like Argentina after the real war, victories in terms of the disputed territories of missions and the Chaco, Brazil would lose the egemony over the cuenca del plata, perhaps also with small victories in disputed territories and would have an ally or puppet government of Uruguay

Funnily enough, if Brazil lost the war, the monarchy would probably be strenghtened in the following two decades, since the army grew greatly in political relevance following the victory in Paraguay, and was pretty much the breeding ground of republicanism in the country, which would lead to the coup in 1889. However, unrest among slaves would still prove an issue, since freedom was offered in exchange for service, and probably slaveowners would try to keep hold of their workforce even harder in a scenario of defeat. Maybe abolition would happen sooner, at a point when landowners hadn't yet been swayed by republicanism under the illusion that the new regime would pay reparations to slaveowners, or even reinstate slavery. To be honest, the monarchy could still very well fall to other reasons, such as the lack of popular representation in politics, or just general poverty and underdevelopment.

Here's an alternate history scenario I've been interested in for a while, what would happen if Mexico won the Mexican-American war? Would Mexico simply leave the US alone to exist without access to the Pacific or would it take the Louisiana purchase and become the new North American power while the US stayed a relatively weak agricultural society?

Great video! Although I don't see Brasil annexing Uruguay, since it would inevitably lead to conflict with Argentina, even if it's annexed by Paraguay, after a victory it's independence would be restored.

Francisco solano lopez's father was actually way more diplomatic than he was so the possibility of his own heir being diplomatic is still there.
