in magnetic lasso tool, the lasso automatically makes points as you drag the line along, how do you go back and erase the last point made? I tried Ctrl Z it doesn't work, ESC just erases the entire lasso line

I have a question.
Once I have gone around the area that I want ( with the lasso tool ) and met back up with the original place I started, how do you then remove the background? The lasso carries on dragging around everywhere! which is very annoying... I want to know what key shortcut to press to avoid this, please. Thank you
