Blue pencils were used by people in the design industry as well as the animation industry because it was a tone that was visible to our eyes on roughs, but when scanned in with corrections, was not visible by the scanner and so would make copies that didn't have the 'editing lines' on it. 😎

I like that he uses procreate brushes and explains what brush he is using that helps when you are new and trying to understand procreate

This is exactly what I've been looking for!!! I've drawn a bunch of illustrations by hand and wanted to digitize them using Procreate and needed some guidance on how to do that. This is extremely helpful! Thanks!

Thank you for this! One of the realest tutorials I've seen. The idea of pasting in a different picture to use the color palette is genius

Making your own color palette on the canvas is such a good idea. I never thought of that.

Wow! I'm super impressed with your work. I have some sketches I've done for a children's book I wrote years ago. I need to change the sizes to make everything a little more uniform for the book. And, of course, all those finishing touches are marvelous. I haven't yet purchased my iPad, as I'm trying to make sure I buy exactly what I need to do this. Is that possible with Procreate? Any other advice for an old lady like me? All is appreciated. I'm so ready to get started, yet apprehensive.

Cobalt blue used to be used to hide sketch lines from TV cameras, I think? Great tips, just subbed

I was looking for this because I feel like I have a hard time sketching on digital since I can't see the bigger picture and I always zoom in, but this should help

Hi Drew, thanks for the video! Really good tips. Like the idea of shading and highlighting using white or black that is less opaque. I’m new to procreate and my mind is blown away with all you can do with this app. You mentioned to use a reference layer so that color doesn’t spill over. Can you list the steps to do this and what layers to do it on? It sounds like a really good tool because the spill over problem is super frustrating! Another YouTuber suggested adjusting the color threshold, by holding down and then dragging your pencil across the screen to adjust but it just never works for me. Thank you.

Been watching and re-watching this video and I still can't figure out how to keep the shadows from going out side the lines
I put my color layer has refrence then open a new layer above set to clipping mask and the brush strokes kerp going out of the lines. Can't figure out what I'm doing wtong

I was wondering why do you do the blue sketch layer? Why not do the final line art using your initial photo art (since it's digital, you can make corrections/changes to the line art layer)? Maybe I'm missing something.

Hi, I got a question.

When I import my design that’s 3000 x 3000 to my procreate Canva that’s also 3000 x 3000, when I resize the design down so that it gets smaller it tend to get really pixelated and blurry. Any way to fix this? Please and thank you!
