Join L. Joseph Parker, a research physician, as we delve into a recent comparative effectiveness study that delves into the effects of discontinuing long-term benzodiazepine therapy on patient mortality and adverse events. This study specifically looks at how baseline opioid exposure may impact the outcomes of patients undergoing benzodiazepine discontinuation. Through this exploration, we will uncover the key findings of the study, discuss the implications for clinical practice, and outline the potential risks and benefits associated with discontinuing benzodiazepine therapy in patients receiving stable long-term treatment. This research sheds light on an important aspect of patient care and provides valuable insights for healthcare providers. If you are interested in understanding the impact of benzodiazepine discontinuation on patient mortality and adverse events, especially in the context of baseline opioid exposure, this video is a must-watch. Stay informed, stay educated, and join us as we explore the fascinating world of comparative effectiveness studies in healthcare.

Doctors are quick to try to get you off these medications but the thing is that in my view doctors should take this medication for a couple of months then try to come off of and then maybe they don't understand what they do to people when they prescribe them 30 years I've been on this crap and I am so disgusted by doctors I don't trust any of them

Data doesn't put the physician in a dangerous position. LEOs put physicians and patients in a dangerous position. LEOs should not be involved in health care oversight absent physicians clearly knowingly intending to harm.

One state kept me on these for the entirety of my 10-18th year of life, and I was told that I had to take medication forever. I move 5 states away and I was SHOCKED AND HORRIFIED to find out there’s no standard across the states.

Drug shortages are also a major factor in what is normally sound care. For a physician to have to weigh an economic factor into medical care is very burdensome

I am finally getting a brain mri and I want to say I believe these patients should get a brain MRI with and without contrast bc no one is looking at the actual brain and as a patient suffering, it is inconceivable NOT to look at the physical matter of the brain to ensure an underlying condition isn’t present or to get a baseline. This should be in the treatment protocol requirement! Its like diagnosing diabetes absent a blood test. But we haven’t been educated on looking at the brain itself.
