Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman introduced a novel scheme for new workforce entrants. Employees with monthly salaries up to Rs 1 lakh will receive a one-month salary as a Provident Fund contribution. This benefit, capped at Rs 15,000, will be distributed in three installments via direct benefit transfer (DBT). The initiative is expected to benefit 2.1 lakh young people entering the job market. This marks a significant move to support new employees and potentially stimulate workforce participation.

In 2015, investing ₹1, 50, 000 could get you 57.69 grams of gold. By 2024, the same ₹1, 50, 000 only buys 25 grams of gold. Despite the Section 80C limit staying the same, the purchasing power has significantly decreased due to inflation and price rises in every sector. This effectively provides less real value in 2024 compared to 2015.

Still, no media talks about it. It’s been 9 years with no change in the ₹1.5 lakh rebate.
